Semi Quiet High pitch PSU noise

Hey guys.

i bought the antec highcurrent pro 750w version however even when my pc is on idle a semi quiet high pitch noise is coming from the PSU.

Is this acceptable as i can still return my item under 7 working days return policy.

What PSU would you guys recommend?

i5 750 OC'ed + HD 7970

p.s. This is not just a gaming pc, a large quantity of the time will be used for work thus a constant high pitch may come extremely annoying at stressful times.

also i can confirm the noise is actually coming from the PSU.

Sounds like possible coil whine. If it's quite loud and happening all the time then I would say it's grounds for an RMA. I suppose you could also return it under distance selling regs.

If you are looking to get a new PSU then I would recommend a Corsair AX series. Having said that changing out your PSU isn't a guaranteed fix, as coil whine can happen to any PSU or GPU etc.

I've fully tested my PC with multiple GPU's & PSU's and i can confirm it's the PSU.

Yeah I would personally just send it back if it is exhibiting this behaviour and get a replacement.

I had really annoying coil whine on the 1st 670 Windforce I got so I sent it back. 2nd one has been fine so far with no problems.

mhmmm i've got an rma form & just purchased a corsair tx650.

Decent PSU so yeah fingers crossed it will be fine. No way of telling though, can happen with any PSU from any manafacturer. Good luck, let us know how you get on.
