So I ordered the Xbox 360+Halo ODST from Asda on Wednesday. I got a confirmation of order, confirmation of payment taken, and confirmation of shipment from Wednesday through Friday.

So I was expecting it to come on Monday/Tuesday. However they canceled my order on Saturday (yesterday) because the item was no longer in stock. Yet they took my money and sent out a confirmation the item was "On its way".

I phoned and they made the excuse their stock system updates every 24/48 hours. So they didnt check stock before accepting payment.

(There is more to the story but thats the crux of it)

Anyhow somehow they've got delivery of more items to their warehouse today a sunday and increased the price of the item by £20.

Is there anything i can do to get the order at the original price or get them to give it to me for the original price. I could have got it from Amazon the same day i ordered it from Asda but opted for Asda as they're local to me and since Amazon have increased the price also.

Pretty sure you can as long as you kick up a fuss about it. After all the price wasn't glitched i.e £20 for a console, you were paying RRP prices most likely.. Just be pushy. To top of it of, they even sent you an e-mail stating it was on its way. It is their job to get you another at the same price especially since they are receiving more. That is how I see and that is all.

Ye i was being and they say order canceled is just that and they can do nothing to reorder, but i will have to reorder once its back in stock and low and behold next day back in stock at an increased price.

Who can I complain about this whole situation i feel cheated, especially since amazon had it for the same price and i didnt go with them cos any problems i got to Asda down the road.

As you just said yourself, mention how you chose Asda because you knew or felt that should a problem arise, they were much better at sorting it out since you whenever needed you could always just walk-in to an Asda store unlike Amazon even if you bought it from Asda Direct. Sweet talk 'em, oh and if that doesn't work, read up on Trading Standards and find any loopholes. :p Have they even returned your money yet?

Yea told them this on the phone when i finally got through to a manager.

The worst thing is they said "Order on its way" sent me day details of possible days I will receive it and took the money only to say sorry out of stock, WTF?

And i get money in 5 days time, now they have it back on their website for £179 up from £157 just 4 days ago. And they receive stock on Sunday???

I'd try and sweet talk them and if they won't budge ask for a full refund and say you'll take your business elsewhere. Maybe say you're going to Tesco or Sainsbury's ;)
Although i'm pretty sure that if they've already taken payment then they have to honour that price. They can't take payment, not send something out and then ask for more money. If they've got your money then legally they have to give you what you paid for.

*edit* Maybe talk to trading standards first if you can and then make sure you tell Asda that you've spoken to trading standards as well.

The problem is you've spoken to one stuck up Manager, I dunno if this will help but you could always contact Andy Clarke, the current CEO of Asda [email protected], users have reported they do get replies but it most likely isn't by the CEO, but users have reported that their issues get resolved quicker after doing this or come to a satisfactory outcome.

So maybe I didnt make this clear, but they canceled the order on Saturday they told me that once an order is canceled and refund already in process they cant do anyhting.

I MUST reorder when its back in stock and now it is just 24hours after they canceled the order and increased by 22£.

Emailing the CEO? I'm not sure I have the energy to explain how completely idiotic this situation is. Like, how does an online retailer update their stock system after 24/48 hours? They must cancel many orders and have very unhappy customers often.

Well right now, the only option you got is to phone and e-mail. The quicker you pursue it the higher the chances of you being able to receive the order you initially were promised. Perhaps you'll be luckier tomorrow and get to talk to someone more understanding.

Yes hope so I will call again tomorrow. Thanks for the help!

Best bet is to not order from them again I think.
Shopto have some decent 360 offers. Can get the 250gb console + Battlefield 3 for £180.
