Hi,

I have had a stick of RAM fail today in which memtest found 5 errors (Tested twice for 3 hours each)

As the ram says it has a life time warranty will i have to RMA in the original packaging & all 4GB or just the 2GB stick? ... i bought this 6 or 7 years ago and don't have the packaging.

Also will i get DDR2 RAM back as my motherboard only supports DDR2?

thanks.

You'll probably have to send the whole kit back.

Also, they will give you ddr2 ram back, as that's what failed not any other ddr

They may not give you any RAM back as OCZ dropped out of the RAM market around 18 months ago and sold all their remaining stock to OcUK.

You're more likely to be looking at some form of refund.

Discontinued or Unavailable Products:

Current market value is determined as OCZ product and/or Competitor(s) product based on the chipset, and/or specification, and/or features. All determination current market value are based on an average of current market price and product availability. ALL refund shall be an amount no greater than the original purchase price of the product.

Really? Thats why the stock is so rare :(

thanks for the replies.

You're welcome.

I guess it is not really worth contacting OCZ seen as i won't receive a replacement :(

Of course it is.

You'll get some money back and you can buy some more RAM.

Quick question

If i buy the Corsair XMS2 RAM from OCUK can i run this next to the working 2GB OCZ stick? ... 6GB in total. (Motherboards is Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3l)

OCZ timings 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8v

Corsair timings 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v

Yes, but you may have to loosen the timings of the OCZ to match.

Running three sticks will mess up dual channel operation (if that's what your system supports).

See what OCZ say first.

It's unlikely but they may be able to replace the RAM.

They may also want both sticks returning if they were sold as a kit.

thanks mate, yeah i had the RAM running in dual channel operation, think i might just upgrade my media pc to an i3 as by time i sold my old parts it will work out the same for the upgrade.

had a reply today in which they have offered market value for the RAM, any ideas on what this is as i think i have to return the RAM back to them also.

OCZ define it as:

What that means in reality is anyone's guess.

4GB of 800MHz DDR2 at OcUK is £44-£60 if that's any indication.

They may, or may not, include VAT.

I think you'll just have to wait and see what they offer and if you think it's too low ask them for an explanation of how they arrived at the figure.

ah ok, will wait to see what they come back with.

thanks.

They have offered me a refund and asked for bank details etc. Alas they also want the memory back and sent to Holland.

Sending stuff to Holland reminds me why I do not buy OCZ stuff any more.

Also had a reply offering me £49.49 for the full 4GB.

Do i upgrade mobo, cpu & RAM or just replace the faulty memory? ... hard decisions.
