2001 E46 330i Sport Thoughts.

It's booked in to go to Harwoods, Basingstoke - £369. Then it'll need brake fluid too, which I'll get done at the same time.

The service history on the car is the most comprehensive I've ever seen, literally everything done at BMW, even tyres / wipers / bulbs.

No Photos yet, don't pick it up until Monday and then it'll need a clean and polish (albet without a hosepipe, thanks South East Water).

On a related note, cooling system precautions. Worth getting all of it overhauled ahead of a failure, or just doing radiator and water pump for now? Genuine parts seem a little expensive, and you can get Behr radiators for reasonable cost, who's done it?

Thanks

The BEHR is the genuine part.

What you do depends on who is driving the car and what your attitude is. It is perfectly possible to run it until it fails and replace it without damage. If your wife is going to drive the car and turn up one day saying 'Yea a red light came on about 20 miles ago' then do it as a precaution. If not, wait until it breaks.

Poor Lumia photo.....

Absolutely love it, very smooth and drives fantastically well. Not sure if the Auto suits it/me yet, but I'm sure it will when I hit the normal Basingstoke traffic tomorrow morning.

Great spot Fox, yeah it has Xenon's, they're fantastic! Ordered new side repeater lenses, £11 a side, and Inspection II Thursday. This weekened will be getting a full wash, especially after finally lifting the hosepipe ban today :)

Looks great, amazing how good a nice e46 or e39 still looks today given how "out of date" they are now really.

I was thinking the same thing, whilst technically what...2gens(?) out now, they still look really good to my eye. :)

biggest problem i see with the e46 is the state of the typical cars you see on the road. they are real chav magnets around here now, so if you buy a nice one youll have to pay a premium and regardless of the premium, 10 years of wear will mean a lot of components being replaced

That is true of many old prestige cars to be fair, it doesnt stop a nice one still being a nice car :)

Just seen this, will be a decent buy as the previous owner whilst gong through cars at a rate of knots does usually keep them in good nick :)

I have the same december year in saloon form - love it!
Only this is soon you will get used to the power and want something more like an M powered car (well I currently do) and those rims will have you swearing after a detail :(

Looks very nice! Makes me miss my old 330i - i loved that car!

I have to say though, paying dealer prices for a 11 year old car does not make sense to me.

I got my InspII service for £210 and they did a really thorough job on it. I've said it time and time again, i would much rather take my car to a small independent specialist (and not one of those places who just call themselves a specialist) that i trust rather than a dealer.
