Hi Guys,

made my first bit of music in a style which I am very keen on. Took me just overnight to complete and was the first time I used the program in which I used to create it.

Let me know what you think

I like it.
But how much of the music did you play yourself? Or is it mainly a case of auditioning pre-played loops and putting them together to create the song?

it's all short sample loops - it makes me feel a bit strange and almost cheating but then again you could argue the same thing with photoshop brushes as a designer they just speed up the process.

Basically took the sample loops and put them together in my own unique string.

It is good, but use a controller keyboard, a copy of Cubase and a copy of Halion Sonic to come up with something similar and I will be impressed.

I haven't mucked with samplers for around fifteen years now, but what you've done isn't a bad use of the samples.

Personally, I wouldn't describe what you've done as composition - more like production. And I don't know your musical background, so I don't know how to rate the productions overall, anyway.

They're not to my taste, however, but potentially an interesting starting point.

I'm not really from a musical background at all, I listen to it and that's about as far as it goes. Used to play the piano when I was younger for a few weeks but stopped not long after. My brother on the other hand is grade 8 piano so he's done really well on that.

I agree that production is a better word than composition, so i'll use that from now on :D

Not bad actually. Would happily have both on as background music :)

Wanted the first one to build more, hard to explain what I mean, really pull you in then 'boom'. Make it emotional. I could be talking **** of course lol

If you have the full version of Mixcraft 6, there's plenty of synths in there to get you started. Also, if you pick up a mag called Computer Music, the cover disc has loads of free sounds and plug ins.
