What is the Point of Veganism?

More often than not it's because of the conditions the animals are kept in.

For instance, in order for a cow to produce milk constantly they must be calving. That means they are repeatedly artificially inseminated (some hardline vegans would call this rape) and the calves are then usually kept for veal. Additionally, milk may contain hormones, antibiotics, puss and blood. The values vary country to country based on what is deemed as "acceptable" but I believe the UK allows 150,000-200,000 animal cells per ml of milk.

One thing that bugs me is if we did not use cows for milk or hens for eggs we would have no use for them so we wouldn't not have fields/barns full of them. If everyone had a vegan died every field in England would be full of vegetables and no animals at all, the only cows you would see would be in zoos. So a lot more animals have a life because we have a use for them.

Thought vegans were the ones that like to go on about it because they like to advertise how superior they are by enjoying the smell of their own farts...

My friend complains about rainforest clearing for beef ranching.

Doesnt say much about rainforest clearing for soya growth for his soya based products.

All self-righteous nonsense to me and you cannot have a logical argument with them. Its like arguing about Scientology vs evolution.

Nothing proves that vegetarianism isn't the be all and end all more than realizing that it's literally impossible to be a body-builder as one. You just can't get the diet needed to build the human form if you are a vegetarian. Good luck trying without the protein which comes almost exclusively from meat. Vegan protein sources are only a fraction as effective as meat sources.

Vegetarian? You will never be this guy.

you clearly have no idea what veganism is about, or what these people endure to save these animals.

and neither do i

I'm a pescetarian. I will eat fish but not meat. I cant stand the texture or taste of meat

If it's because you don't like the taste then fair enough but it's when they do it for 'Moral' reasons yet still eat fish they're taking the ****.

Not really, I'm the same but will only eat NON farmed fish.
I do this for moral reasons as I actually love the taste of chicken, beef ..etc
I'm not against killing animals and don't see it as being cruel provided the meat is free range. However I live at home still and the meat my parents buy isn't free range plus it's hard to eat meat and not come into contact with cruel meat that has been mass produced at the expensive of the animal.

TBH I think it's more the other way round. A vegetarian that isn't vegan is often very naive. Some of the worst cruelty happens to egg hens & dairy cows.

* I'm neither BTW.

I think you will find most Vegetarians or Pescetarians will only buy organic free range eggs/milk/cheese ..etc
I know I wouldn't touch anything else

Vegans disagree with the "abuse" of animals. They believe farming them constitutes abuse. Cows that are not pregnant do not produce milk. So cows are constantly impregnated. Cow can't get pregnant? Dead cow. Of course this also leads to the birth of many cows. Bullocks are routinely killed because they are worthless to dairy farmers. Their carcasses merely disposed of because nobody wants to eat veal any more.

Some of the conditions animals are kept in to produce these products are simply dreadful, too. Battery hens for a start. Some dairy farms keep their cows in less than ideal conditions.

Not to mention the years of "optimised breeding" has led to many animals with genetic defects that we see as a "bonus" like cows that produce 10 times the milk that they would otherwise produce, which means the cows get tired, and sick easily. These animals are then simply killed because it is economically infeasible to treat them. Why bother when you have a new batch of cows every year? So yeah, cows do die to give you that block of cheese.

Chickens that grow at alarming rates and sizes - often becoming too big for their own bones to support their weight, meaning they have deformed legs and breast plates that drag on the floor, giving them open sores that are very painful, especially as they have to wade through their own faeces all day which also given them ammonia burns.

Etc.

It's not hard to work out OP. You're being as ostentatious about Vegans, as much as you claim the Vegans you are complaining about are.

The only justifiable reason for being vegetarian is if you hate the taste or are allergic/intolerant to all meat and meat based products (modify for vegan).

I have cooked vegetarian sausages for a friend in lard before (for the lols and because I'm fun like that) and was told it was the best tasting veggie sausages she had ever eaten. Point proven. Even veggies like the taste of meat. Why limit the diet that your body is designed around? You only weaken yourself.

Although much kudos to my sister's German friend who will eat meat if she is sure of its origin, that I approve of.
