So Its Comic con this weekend and a Teaser trailer will be shown I'm sure, Is everyone looking forward to this movie?

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Henry Cavill) is a young twenty-something journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond his imagination. Transported years ago to Earth from Krypton, a highly advanced, distant planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question 'Why am I here?' Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Diane Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner), Clark discovers having extraordinary abilities means making difficult decisions. When the world is in dire need of stability, an even greater threat emerges. Clark must become a Man of Steel, to protect the people he loves and shine as the world's beacon of hope - Superman

I think it's going to have to do a lot to prove that Superman can still be relevant in today's world. Personally I find him pretty boring as a superhero.

I am bored of him as a Superhero. If JLA is ever made, I might be interested, or perhaps a crossover like the Alien vs Superman comics I read a while ago. Superman reboot? Nah. TV series and the oldies have done it to death.

The tv series with Dean Cain were brilliant... although i was young watching them.

Who's going to be Lois in the movie then?

Well with Mr Brooks as his dad no-one is going to mess with him, superpowers or not.
Another superman reboot, do we really need anymore of them?

I don't know, I think the only series to actually do superman justice, and even then only in part, was smallville. It certainly charted the character progression. The darkness within, and the need/inability to compromise.

This!

If they put him up against someone he can actually properly open up on it could be epic!

Within DC Universe? It'll be the usual Lex Luthor and some machine aid/kryptonite setup - same old same old in comics. Or Bizzaro? Won't have a wide audience appeal so Hollywood no no I suspect.

What about a Flash movie? Why reboot something done to death when you can have Flash!

Thats the problem with Superman movies, they always do Kryptonite.

They need to bring in a proper real big bad and have them battering each other across cities trying to get the upper hand.

They need someone like Darkseid. Or do a proper General Zod, where he has all the powers of Superman AND a genius intelect and military training. Then there's always Doomsday and Braniac they could call on.

It is general Zod in this movie and a good actor playing him as well. I think Christopher Nolan had a hand in it somewhere as well. I think it will be a lot different from any of the other Superman movies and go down a bit of a darker road. Well I hope so anyway.

Indeed it is Zod, but I bet they bring Kryptonite into it rather than having a full on brawl to the end.

I do hope i'm wrong though and he can pull off a good proper 'powerful' Superman.

I was interested in a new Superman film, but then Zack Snyder was chosen to direct, and Zod was chosen as his nemesis, again. *sigh*

Still, on the positive side, having Zod is better than Lex Luthor for the umpteenth time, and although Synder is not that good a director, having him direct will guarantee that there will be a fight. TBH though, I was hoping they would do something more adventurous and go with a character that hasn't been used yet.

Yeah, the whole Lex storyline is good for the TV shows and cartoons but not a 1 hours and 30 minutes film. Thankfully they are using General Zod as the bad guy.

Would love to see a Superman film one day on the big screen with Dark Seid or Doomsday as the villain. Who knows, maybe if this is successful we may get a sequel with one of them :p

The superman animated films are great, loved the Doomsday film, and the latest Superman VS the Elite was pretty good with the way he dealt with things in the end, but these wouldn't work at all with "real" actors on the big screen for many reasons.

Either way I can't wait for it, although don't really like Henry Cavill and can't picture him playing a good Superman, thought Brandon Routh was pretty good in SR and Tom Welling was also great as Superman, not so much the dorky CK though, but he did only play the dorky version for like a total of 15 minutes for the entire show! :p

From what I can gather so far, it does appear that it will be a more darker/realistic version like Nolan's Batman films, so hopefully this could be the start of a good Superman trilogy.

Also agree with the poster about the Dean Kain/Superman TV series, it was amazing! Great cast! :D Lane Smith was awesome as Perry White :D

I'm sure there will be a big fight with Zod and Ursa ( I dont know her name but there is also a Female with Zod who comes to earth)
