Think I read somewhere that language needs to be set to English US for the voice stuff to work properly.

No idea if it's true though, anyone able to test it out?

it works fine for me like this:

send text to <contact name> <message>

set alarm for 10 minutes from now

what is the weather in london on friday etc..

u on about choosing the voice thing from the google bar?

if so i do that and it just googles contact jimmy little for me :D

yep, the voice thing on the google bar, my language is set to English UK.

if it doesnt recognise the contact name i say, i get the google search rubbish as well :D

Have you got 4.1.1 then? I guess its something to do with the latest ROM.

yep, i installed 4.1.1 as soon as someone on XDA found the file on google's server, no point waiting for the OTA to find its way to my phone.

i never used voice search before 4.1.1, so dont know what's new.

Ive also installed JB onto my nexus. Seems a lot snappier I must admit, cant seem to turn off the vibration on key inputs though. Im loving the voice search, its supposed to get better at recognising your voice over time, I can see myself becoming dependent on this :D

Voice is still a bit like professor Steven Hawkings in drag though.

Here it is:

Didnt know you had a GNex Robbo???...actually silly questions really as you probably own just about every iphone iteration out there along with the million and one Android handsets out there too:p

I guess the SGS3 will have a long-ish wait before we get the JB update.

Of course I have one! :p My girlfriend has been using it but she now has the One X as I much prefer the SGS3 just like yourself.

I'm interested to see how Google Now works, the phone is a lot smoother as well. You wouldn't know the internals are a bit old hat.

LOL now you got me thinking, my missus phone was stolen on monday, just a cheapo samsung slider phone and shes been holding out on getting a smartphone as she think its beyond her:p.

But now im thinking about picking up a cheap galaxy nexus sim free for her and put JB on it so that i can have a play with it too:p.

Only problem is finding a cheap GNex, so far ive seen one for £310 sim free.

Yeah I'd say around £300 is a decent price if it's brand new.

I'm not sure if it's worth it just to try out Jelly Bean though, it's not that good really!

Well tbh i want to get her into smartphones now so it gives me an excuse to buy her one and see how she gets on with it. Although i think it may be too big for her dainty little hands, if thats the case then ill just get a Blackberry Bold 9790 which shes quite fond of.

Go for it then. Overall it's a nice enough phone, and stock Android is very nice and pretty user friendly as far as these things go.

It's comfortable to hold so she should be okay, and the battery life is fairly respectable as well.
