I don't have any knowledge regarding repairing it, I'm afraid, but if it still works as it used to then I guess it doesn't NEED to be repaired. If money is an issue then I would continue using it as normal - maybe putting a screen protector on the front to prevent it getting any worse.

Another option would be to sell it on Ebay. I am sure you would get a decent enough price if it still functions correctly, then you can put that money towards a new one? Just a thought.

Although I generally repair iPhones more than anything, I have take a couple of iPads apart too. It can be tricky, as to help it apart the use of a heat gun is needed to ease off the adhesive from the glass to the backing. But it can be done. I can't remember how much I asked for the last iPad repair, but parts have probably changed prices since then.

Certainly as you are in Essex, look for a company in Shoeburyness call Angry Pear Ltd, they will probably do the repair for you, at a very resonable price.

that might actually be the best option, im sure thats how much they go for on the MM - (ie a complete working ipad) and you can sell the bust one...

Idiots on eBay pay almost as much for a broken one as a working one. It was my plan to pick up a broken one and repair it but they sell for about £30/£40 less which defeats the point.
Just sell it and pick up a second hand one on here or eBay
