There is a mobile phone accessory shop 1/2 mile from me that I have used several times in the past.
I've just rang them up:
Me: Hi, what are your opening times?
Them: Is it for mobile phone accessories or cleaning stuff?
Me: Mobile phone
Them: Sorry we can only sell through eBay
Me: Have you got the stuff there?
Them: Yes, but because of 'regulations' we can only sell through eBay
Me: I live 1/2 mile away, can't I come in?
Them: Sorry, it's the only way we are allowed to do it

So OCUK, what type of regulations could these be?

are they advertising what you want to buy in the shop? or have i missed something

This is a shop I've been calling in for at least 4 years for accessories but all of a sudden they can only sell their cleaning stuff from the shop even though all the mobile accessories are still there.
I want to know what these 'regulations' are.

I imagine it's a licensing issue. I work for a local council and we've just had to tell the local sandwich man who delivers to us he can't do it any more unless he gets a street trading license.

I don't work in that department but I know you need licensing to trade from a shop and maybe they've only got one that permits them to sell cleaning products. Hence why they can only trade their other stuff through ebay like we all can.

Why not suggest they sell you cleaning product "X" with mobile part "Y" but they charge you only for the cleaning product at a higher price which just happens to be the total price of both products but the mobile product is a "free" product...
