Some news on Piledriver

"Enhanced Bulldozer microarchitecture"

The current Bulldozer architecture doesn't perform well for gaming, and even with "enhancement", I doubt it it will gain enough pace to catch up with what Intel's currently got, let alone whatever that Intel gonna release not long after their release.

In my honest opinion, I would rather AMD made CPUs with a faster architecture, rather than trying to turbo charge a slow car...

by "enhancing" do they actually mean "increasing the clock by 100mhz, giving it a new name and releasing it" ?

You say that like I should care. :D

I post less than once a day on here about AMD, and I'm an AMD user, you post at least 10 times a day about them, and you've got a 2500k...

EDIT: Btw it's nothing personal, I just hate when these debates rage on for no reason. Humbug is equally to blame in here. 5 pages later you're both still arguing about it lol.

Both FX-8350 and FX-8150 have maximum Turbo Core frequency of 4.2 GHz, therefore the performance difference in single-threaded tasks won't be as big, however even in these tasks the upcoming chip should be slightly ahead of the FX-8150.

Is that a sign that it will not overclock any better than the current 8150? I would have thought the turbo frequency would be upped too as it would give PD higher performance in low threaded apps which is where BD really struggles.

What does that have to do with anything?

I was thinking that, which I wouldn't be surprised at, but disappointed with.
Hopefully it's not the case.

I think that this is the most important aspect of what you've said.

I think that the industry is at a point now where we really need AMD biting at Intel, to ensure that money is spent in developing new technologies to push the limits a bit more.

Will Piledriver be a fair contender to Ivy-Bridge?

Perhaps, but we're not going to know anything which is 100% factual until it's release - which looks like October.

That depends on whether or not its given a fair review, Super PI and some aspects of Sandra and the like.... still use ancient x87 code which Intel like as they still use those intrusion sets purely to keep on top of those benchmarks as AMD don't have them as usage of x87 code, especially now is practically 0

So unless reviewers move with the times and use real a variety of software (single threaded and multithread, AMD optimized as well as Intel optimized) to test you will never see any changes in performance.

AMD have some work to do aside from that, no doubt about that, but if reviewers are going to continue to insist on using way out of date benching software which bare no resemblance to real life performance then nothing will change and no one will ever know what the chip can do in the real world, thus Intel will continue to grow while AMD pull out of the mainstream CPU market all together to concentrate on doing what they do best, which just happens to be exactly that whats killing the enthusiasts desktop market.

all these reviewers who insist on sticking in there old ways for whatever reason need to wake up and seriously think about what they are doing before will all need to get enthusiastic about computing through our TV sets or pay Intel vast amount of money for chips that will evolve at a snails pace.

AMD will never DIE, they are far to inventive and forward looking for that, what they will do is crank up HTPC type of stuff to worm its way into the back of every TV there is, they already have very low power APU's the size of your thumbnail that monster your Xbox360 and PS3 which all sorts of people are looking at with great interest, Panasonic , Sony, Microsoft to name but a few.

Anyway yes.... looks like Oct 17'th http://nicolas11x12techx.blogspot.in/2012/06/amd-piledriver-new-release-dates.html

Just thought I'd mention most benchmarking sites, the decent ones. Run these CPUs through a dozen or so different benchmarks and post up the results. Real world benchmarks, aswell as the benchmarking software. Stop making excuses for BDs bad performance for god sake. Its really strange. =\

I too hope Piledriver will give Ivybridge a run for its money, But my god man, Let the benchmarks speak for themselves, Not just 1 or 2 "Intel biased benchmarks" All the benchmarks! Its not hard to do a little research, Into like 50+ different benchmark.

As hardware enthusaists, thats what we generally do. When BD was being released we saw benchmarks, after benchmarks, result and more results. **** loads! Is your view really so skewed that you can say its because they were all Intel Bias? o.O

It will happen again as Piledriver gets closer, we'll see all the benchmarks, we'll beable to weigh up the performance. And the people capable of actually looking at those results as a whole and ackowledge them without making excuses will be better for it.

Then you'll have the fanboys who will continue to talk ****.

Who are you talking to?

I know that some benchmarks are utalised better for Intel processors, however other benchmarks like performance in games and Cinebench really do give a fair indication on how a processor will perform in the real-world.

Yeah, I cant see AMD going out of the market anytime soon.

Should see some benchmarks by September then!
