The end of Facebook stalking?

Better go click through your ex boyfriend's kind of weird-looking new girlfriend's tagged photos now, while you still can. Facebook announced today that they're going to start letting people know who has viewed certain items on the social network — technology that, for now, only impacts a limited area of the site, but could, in the future, make the beloved shametivity of Facebook stalking a thing of the past.

Starting yesterday, when you visit group pages on Facebook, you can see which group members have viewed each post. That means if you're curious about what stupid jerks your ex best friend invited to his lame-o birthday gathering and you just happen to meander over to a group page organized around the fart party moron collective he's assembled to celebrate his terrible birth, and you click on the dumb overly friendly notes that his horrible new friends who say YOLO left, if he invited you to his party, people will know you've been there. You Only Die of Embarrassment Once. YODEO.

So, to avoid leaving a potentially humiliating trail, just avoid e-stalking on group pages, right? Sure. Until Facebook unfurls the technology in other areas of the site. I'm not being alarmist! Look at that **** they did with timeline! The rule of awesomeness entropy states that everything that was once fun is doomed to become crappier and crappier until you can't stand it!

They couldn't have picked a worse time to do this... I guess it's time to resurrect my wingman Donald Longdix.

so if you click on someones profile, or picture or whatever it sends them a message to say this has happened?

I didn't bother to read it all

This isn't necessarily bad news though, you will be able to tell if your friends sister is taking sneaky peeks at pictures of your fat neckbearded body.

To be honest, I think it's about time we all realise that 'stalking' shouldn't even be an accepted behaviour, anyway... we've been spoilt these last few years with a new method of 'socialising' that lets you completely snoop around in other people's business, look through all of their photos that you have no business looking at, and generally stick your nose in where it isn't wanted at all. Whilst I'm just as guilty of this from time to time as anyone else, I think being honest you can't see it as anything else but socially poisonous. I've actually had one of my previous relationships be totally burdened and stressed out because of things like Facebook, attention from other guys online, knowledge that my other half was stalking exes, etc.etc. Stuff that probably does go on in our interior lives and heads all the time, but Facebook facilitates it and makes it soo easy. So, it'll ruin a lot of people's fun, but I think it'll be better for everyone involved overall :p

No more browsing over exes profiles to see what they're up to nowadays out of general nosiness! A million broken-hearted men the world over will now collectively sigh, as Facebook will finally let them get over their previous flame! (I am not one of these people but know many that are).

If they don't want me to look at their boobies they shouldn't add me as a friend/put their boobies on their page. This won't deter me! 8)

That's fair enough, except that they have a choice of what they put online, as well as who gets to view it.

If sexy brunette with the nice legs #7 doesn't want me looking at all 1209 of her bikini pics, she could simply restrict my access.

look through all of their photos that you have no business looking at,

Stopped reading there. Only idiots put pictures on facebook if they're private.

If they've added me / accepted a friend request, they have allowed me access, if i want to see their photos, but they don't want me to see them, don't upload them.

Too lazy to bother looking through peoples photo's but the point stands.
