The end of Facebook stalking?

Did anyone read the story at all? It won't say who has viewed their profile or images. It is going to display information on who has viewed a group invite. So you notice someone has setup a group invite for a party and you click on it, it will let the person know if they care to look at the stats.

Stopped reading there. Only idiots put pictures on facebook if they're private.

If they've added me / accepted a friend request, they have allowed me access, if i want to see their photos, but they don't want me to see them, don't upload them.

Too lazy to bother looking through peoples photo's but the point stands.
My thoughts, but I do think face-book should encourage people to upload everything private at first, then select which ones to allow others to see.

I've got a feeling many will leave, as they want the attention - but they don't want to know who's looking at them (as it creates a degree of social awkwardness) - while they will at first thing it's cool, the second they notice nobody is looking any-more (because who want's to be branded a pervert?) the attention seekers will leave..

All it will do is stop people using face-book (Which isn't really a bad thing).

The RSA has a very interesting talk on this subject, it's regarding how we use language & the extreme lengths we go-to to speak in hints & covertly try to avoid direct meaning in what we say (As it allows us to take something back if rejected) etc.

Thought I'd point out that this Jezebel site has just ran a story without even understanding it properly.

If you look at the story they linked from:
http://www.complex.com/tech/2012/07/facebook-will-now-tell-you-who-has-seen-your-group-posts

You can see it says that Facebook has made changes to Groups allowing the owner to see who has visited:
http://newsroom.fb.com/News/Update-to-Facebook-Groups-186.aspx

So unless the person you are stalking is so vain that they own a group full of all their photos, nothing has changed.

Typical blog/news site reporting total rubbish.

are we sure FB have confirmed this? just because theyve always been keen to deny thing like those stupid "see whos viewed your profile" apps dont work and the information will never be made available.

I never knew facebook stalking existed... unless its taken further who cares?why would 1 person care if someone looked at a picture they made public...

The only thing i can say about people leaving facebook being bad is the following:

Facebook is becoming a hub for log ins, for example netflix, it has useful integration.

Apart from that i'm not worried if everyone stops using it.

They went to tumblr already...

What does this functionality actually add though?
Someone in a group can see who looked at a topic. And the net result is...? Fudge all.
It just seems to be a way of encouraging people to moan at each other by having the system 'grass them up'. Or for people to whinge about "Omg so and so looked at that picture but didn't leave a comment" blah blah blah.

I hate Facebook (Except the boobs).

It's slang for ****/whore.

O M G,

The word filter on here is out of ******* control.

s l u t is a banned word s-e-r-i-o-u-s-l-y?

Are we children on here? can we not be trusted to use these words in a sensible context?

Yeah, the swear filter has gone OTT. See my post about the moon from a while back. My first word was in the post was "pin p r i c k" which was ok at the time, but since then, the goalposts have changed and it now appears as pin*****.

P.S. I know Jezebel as a girl's name too.

How the hell is c r a p a swear word?

Heh maybe that will stop that girl on facebook uploading all them revealing pictures when she realises how many people are looking at them. :p

To be honest, I think it's about time we all realise that 'stalking' shouldn't even be an accepted behaviour, anyway... we've been spoilt these last few years with a new method of 'socialising' that lets you completely snoop around in other people's business, look through all of their photos that you have no business looking at, and generally stick your nose in where it isn't wanted at all.
What. What?

Don't put your pics in public if you don't want people looking at them, simple as.
