i maybe in the market to upgrade some fans as the ones i have are only OK, i would prefer not to have loud colours or LED's (thats a no no) and i dont really care about price, but i do want the best (IYO)

Suggestions please

**EDIT**

forgot to mention i would like them to be top performers and be QUIET lol, dont want much hay!

are they quiet?

They are totally silent, until you switch them on. Once you do switch them on they make a lot of noise. The amount of noise might be acceptable to you and you may even call them quiet but that rather depends on what you would call quiet.

unhelpful but true, i was looking for suggestions meaning what people have experienced

Be Quiet - Silent Wings 2...as the name says quiet

very good suggestion thanks

New Corsairs (AF/SP) wipe the floor with everything I've seen for a long time. Check out this video review, very in depth and certainly sold them to me! Pity I can't afford or justify to replace all of mine at once...

i use the GT 1850's in my pc setup.. i have 6 of them on my wc system.. and using them with a fan Controller running at about 50 - 60% its silent!

Depends what you mean by "amazing", if you mean the highest airflow go for 38mm thick Server fans such as the Delta's, they really blast out air but the price you pay for that is noise: they sound like an aircraft taking off. The trouble with fans is its a tradeoff between CFM and noise: the more airflow you get, the higher the noise.

Probably the most exhaustive fan testing I've seen here:

The conclusion is for the noise vs. CFM tradeoff the GT AP-15's 1850rpm have the edge, but you need a fan controller on them as running on maximum RPM is likely to be unacceptably loud.

Personally I've found them to be the best too, I've also used Noctua's and Apaches and whilst they're quiet the airflow is disappointing, the Noctua's edging out the Akasa's.

That review is truly great, though a little old (3 years) so there are a few other fans out there these days that could trade blows up the top end.
