DailyGeek's Weight Loss and Bodybuilding Journal

Oh my, whey and oats and half a grapefruit down for breakfast. Can't face the omlette too yet. Might have to build this up over a few days as I'm used to no appetite :p

Just wondering how people manage to prepare and eat so often. I mean there's obviously a method, I just can't figure it out this early in the morning :p

Well, today has gone a bit balls up with the diet as I ended up waking up late and going to the cinema so missed out two of my mini meals. Tried to make it up with some peanuts...

I'll try to start again tomorrow, and it's a gym day! :)

Well, I've spent a couple of days getting used to whey protein and casein. They taste.. interesting :p Being a typical fatty I chose chocolate flavour and it's pretty ropey, but not so much I wouldn't have it.

Back today for shoulders and abs. If my general strength is poor, then my left shoulder/arm is bloody non-existent. Really struggling to even shoulder press the required reps with my left, even dropping the weight down to 5kg eventually!

The really PITA is the abs machine though, I simply start burning inside after a handful of reps so it's a real painful mission to get through it. Oh, and I'm still waddling with leg DOMS from Monday :p

Still enjoying it though!

That burning sensation in your abs is great, after a superset of 10 hanging leg rises with 20 elbow-to-knee crunches, I literally sit up and do an impression of the HNNNNGGGGGGG meme :D

me personally, i cook up a weeks worth of chicken every sunday night, cook up 2.1kg for my diet and then tub it up and put it in the fridge.

Before anyone cries out and says "YOUR GONNA DIE" ive been doing this for over a year now and not once even had a dicky tummy so theres a nice little real life situation for you.

If your dealing with brown rice and sweet potato, i cook up my brown rice the evening before while cooking my dinner. I do my evening meal portion of SP and the following days, when its cooked i mash it up and split it in 2. Brown rice is straight forward cook up and tub up for the following day.

I dont have the time to cook the chicken fresh each day, and i dont have the desire to defrost and cook up my 300g per day either so getting it all done in 30 mins on a sunday night while preparing my dinner is the best solution for me ;)

I don't think anyone was going to cry "YOUR [sic] GONNA DIE" anyway ;) But personally, I cook my next day's lunch whilst I'm cooking my dinner for that night. No real reason, I just like the routine and it doesn't take me any longer :)

I've really struggled with Steedie's diet this week, I think just preparing and eating so often isn't ideal for my life really :( I may have to lump a few of the meal together or look at some similar plans. Food needs to taste of something too :p I feel like a bit of a failure right now though :(

Want t achive your goals you have to get used to some of these compromises, the diet is pretty much the most important thing for you to do right. Without keeping this under control and well organised your gonna struggle to lose weight or gain muscle dependant on aims. Obviously there is other diet formats but the content will be pretty much the same wether you do IF or little and often.

There's zero reason to eat 6 times a day/every 2-3 hours. As someone else said, the thing with diet is consistency, so you need to go with something you'll stick with. In terms of taste, it's one of those things where learning how to jazz stuff up is essential, there's very few people that will eat plain cooked chicken breasts constantly and not find it boring as hell. Eating shouldn't have to be boring, ever, even if you're trying to be Shreddy McRipped.

Like a couple of other posters I'm eating I.F./Leangains style and find it suits my life/schedule really well. Time spent preparing food = minimal, two feasts a day, and I'm really enjoying it - it's easy to follow and satisfying. There's some general rules w/timings (e.g. try and eat your biggest meal and most of your carbs post workout) but the main thing is I can follow it consistently.

Obviously you now have a good idea of what the content of your diet should be, just find a structure to eating it that works for you.

Been doing some reading on Leangains, it looks very interesting if a bit confusing. My diet has been all over the place this week which is a bit disconcerting but I'm still hitting the gym, been doing some long brisk walks too where possible.

The leangains thing, or in fact any of this diet stuff seems to be a lot of food, which considering I'm probably 30%bf I find a bit counter-intuitive. Like I should be eating far less?

Getting a clean diet will help you drop a lot of water weight, but having a clean diet quite often feels like eating more calories than it is. 200g of veg for instance won't be a lot of kcals but will go a fair way to filling you up when accompanied by some lean meats.

Personally, stick to Steedie's timings and meals - they'll see you on the right path for weight loss. Things like IF (which I used to do) I think are fine if your lifestyle commands it, but aren't superior to any other good diet plan knocking around.
