Not to sure about battlefield, am thinking its a team playing game rather than a individual every man for him self type, which probably be more ideal as I will suck!.

Any way could you list some popular games for me to consider before buying, would prefer something running through steam

Thanks! :)

Can't beat Team Fortress 2 :) And it's free. There's a 'practise' section against bots to get to grips with various classes but it's very accessible.

Counterstrike Source is kinda old, but it's been the most popular online shooter for quite a while, and it's one of the most active and addictive, and a lot of fun (bar the snipy-campy stuff).

Best stay with the pack when starting playing, or you'll get picked off. There's a lot of skill variation, from veterans to beginners so it can be quite daunting on public servers. You have deathmatch style mods, that let you practise, with fast respawns, else you'll be dying and spectating a lot if you are not used to the pace.

Both games emphasise heavily on team play.

You will probably be hard pushed to find many CoD fans nowadays in PC game forums.

However CoD 4:Modernwarfare is the best of the bunch by some way in my opinion.

Yes, it's good fun, and still very active.

I mostly play co-op, and want to waste an hour shooting at things.

PvP is very popular too. Takes some time to get to grips though.

And of course, keep an eye on Borderlands 2 if you like co-op games.

l4d 2 is nowhere as good as l4d 1.

its a oldie for sure but I reccomend unreal tournament 2004, since its my favourite game of all time :D

graphically its "alright" looks better than most 2004 era games, the gameplay is outstanding.

i'm a onslaught player and some good servers are death warrant, ceonns and omnipotents. death warrant and omni are both american so ping is a issue but they have the most players and the best map selections.

ceonns is european so ping is fine but also the map selection is kind of terrible in comparison to the other two, but there is usually a healthy amount of players in the evening.

if you don't like onslaught, TAM is popular which is like team deathmatch with all weapons unlocked.

there is a demo you could try, if you've played twitch shooters in the past it should be familiar to you but if you're more of a tactical fps kind of guy it might be unfamiliar to you.
