Hey guys,

I was looking through the store recently and I spotted these thingies. I've seen a few Corsair 800D mods with them on the top and always wondered what they were.

Anyway what im wondering is are these EXACTLY that?

And also what benefit would I get from using one of these?

I have a Corsair 800D and if I was to put one of these on my case what would I need to do other than screw it in? For example would I need to dremmel anything?

Cheers in advance!

i believe it is just a box so you can fit another set of fans for push/pull

(that might be completely wrong though :p)

Yea thats about what I figured it was...

It could be useful but with the grill between the radiator and fans surely that would decrease airflow... Maybe I could saw off the grills...

Hmmmm...

The point of any shroud is to minimize the dead spot on the radiator. The closer the fan to the rad the larger the dead spot (i.e. where the fan motor is you get no air flow) by putting the fan on a shroud this dead spot becomes smaller and you get more flow through the rad, hence in theory you get lower temps for any given fan speed.

Cheaper though just to find 3 old fans rip the motor and blades and just use the frame as your own shroud.

I have a feeling your talking of a different product.

I have seen what you are talking about and they do appear to be somewhat useful but to me take up far too much space.

What im talking of basically adds space to the top of the case to which you can then place an additional set of fans that you wouldn't normally be able to (unless you like fans being exposed!).

Im tossing the idea of getting one of these around at the moment. Not sure exactly how much of a gain I would get...

If it says shroud, and in particular "Radiator Shroud"

Then this:

Yeh would be nice for the OP to have sent a link :) Anyway the koolance ones are a bit odd, they are basically the ones which they use on their external cooling systems. Whether or not they have any functional value rather than bling is a different matter.

Sorry for not posting a link. I see now it would have saved a spot of confusion...

That will teach me!

Thanks for the replies anyway!
