Are 17" Screens still okay??

Hi ladies and gents, I'm new here

I've been using a laptop (no gaming) for the last few years and want to get back to playing all the games I loved before - mainly gaming like Civ, Sins of solar empire and Total war type games.

I have a 17" monitor from an old PC sitting around and wondered if it would still work, I've read that some of the newer games stutter on the now not so popular resolution. Is this the case?

I'm sure to upgrade in the future but would playing on a 17" screen cause any problems at the moment?

I have never heard of games stuttering on a lower resolution, If this is true I would be interested as to why..

A very old 17" LCD is going to have rather dire pixel response times (12-25ms). It won't stutter, but it will blur considerably.

You should really see for yourself, but as above old 17" LCDs are very sluggish and you will get a much better experience when you upgrade to something larger and more modern.

Hmm, I didnt think a 6 year old tft monitor would be THAT bad especially on games like total war and Civ - i'm not running a high end system for crysis 2 or suchlike.

Good adivce gents I'll try it out and see what happens, just wish Ii didnt have to buy an operating system. I could buy a new monitor instead.

17" monitors are socially unacceptable, so you'll have to hide it when people come over.

I dunno. A year orn two and you fill find A Galaxy Note 3S with a 17" screen no doubt.
