It's the marquee series of this summer. It should be better than that series last year that was supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread and ended up being a disgrace to cricket...

It's been raining just about everyday so far, hopefully the sky has run out of juice.

Not sure what the weather in the future holds to be honest, I never check. I just want to see some good days of cricket. I hope KP spanks Morkel and steyn all over the place. But il just take any victory whoever scores the runs.

I'll say it again, can we not just have one thread for discussion of all cricket(counties, IPL, all test nations etc.) rather than an individual thread for each series?

Why are there so many pointless ODI's? This is a battle between the two best Test sides and there is a 20/20 world cup later this year, surely they could have cut out all of the ODI's and replaced them with Tests and 20/20's?

3 Test matches plus all this terrible weather means this series is almost certainly not going to live up to expectations as it isn't going to last long enough.. If we do get some play then it should be an interesting battle between Anderson and Steyn. Steyn has the better career average however Anderson has been averaging 26 or below for each of the last 3 years(one of the main reasons England are number 1) and is probably in the best form of his life at the moment.

I agree, it should have been a 4 match Test series minimum.

5 ODIs is a standard amount. Nothing wrong with that. There is the champions trophy in England next year, so this is an opportunity for SA to prepare for that.

There are 3 T20I matches, which is easily more than enough. T20 is a **** format anyway, you don't need to have a lot of practice in it.

Looking forward to this series, SA are a much tougher test than what England have had recently ie WI and the Aussies.

Just a shame that Boucher is out and retired due to that freak accident last week:(:/. He might have to lose his eye due to that injury.

Think it will be very close although the way England are playing, i wouldnt be surprised to see them beat SA.

Following on from Alperhah just posted, looks like KP hasnt been including the T20 provisional WC squad...big slap in the face for him from the ECB.

Deserved slap in the face, he's gotten far too big for his boots. You can't make demands of your country, it should be an honour to play in your national side.

He pulled out of ODI cricket despite knowing the rules over it.
ODI is going to be killed if every cricket board let their players dictate they only want to play T20 and Tests, so good on the ECB for making a rule and sticking to it.

Bumble tweeted that there's a good chance Steyn misses the first test.
