***** Pictures of things we bought in July 2012 *****

Bought one of these to replace the one my wife had stolen in Cape Verde!

Glad you've come clean, best to use a camera you've bought rather than one your wife's stolen.

ah ok,

I don't know if this really works but if so then you have the best of both worlds now
http://www.nexpod.com/

For me, the trouble is worth it. I don't make it all the time and when I do, I make it good so it's fine. Half the fun I find is buying new beans I've never heard of before and tasting the difference. I don't drink you see, some people find it fun tasting different wine, I find the same joy in coffee.

Buying the pod defeats that purpose, and buying that attachment...makes no sense either :p not when I have a mini Starbucks sitting the kitchen. That was why I bought it all in the first place, so I don't have to go to Starbucks spending £3 for a cup, to save money. I wanted to do it properly, recreate REAL coffee at home. Getting a nespresso is cheating and in my mind I know I am not doing it properly and will eventually upgrade.

What Island did you stay on?

Sal I believe, I didn't go but it was in the town of Santa Maria where she runs a couple of residences for her boss (she is his PA) so goes over there a couple of times a year to chill and make sure everything is running smoothly. Youth walked in via the beech door when she was chatting to a neighbour at front door and did a runner. Ironically the neighbour was a copper from Kenya and he made chase but kid got away with camera and mates ipod.

If you didn't have a mini Starbucks in your kitchen, it would make sense, though. You could make up a variety of pods and then pop them in when it was convenient. You get to try all the different coffees you want to, but there's no hassle in the mornings, or whenever you want it.

I would still need to get that grinder.

And coffee grind starts to lose its freshness 30 minutes after grinding so making a batch up in pods also defeats the purpose of grinding fresh coffee as needed.

That Next Pod looks really fiddly anyway, that piece of circular thing, is it s disposable one or is it a reusable one?

If its a disposable one it means I need a "running cost" on top of buying beans...faff
If its a reusable one it means faff

At the moment, I stick the portafilter under the ginder, hits that button, and it grinds out exact amount of coffee i need.
Tamper it, put it in machine.
On.
That's coffee done.

To wash it, just take it out, wack it into the bin, and rinse in the tap. The whole thing is stainless steel, I'll be long dead before that wears out.

That time of the month?

The only stock photo I used was the hoody, couldn't be arsed to take a photo, much quicker to screen-shot the websites photo.

The holiday screen-shot is my confirmation e-mail
