That's the dilemma that I'm facing at the moment - so which one would you go for.

Symptoms of the problem

Laptop screen only comes on when the screen is opened to around 20% (not exactly a great angle to be working with). As I twist the screen up the screen blanks (very dark imprint still visible implying an inverter problem), I can only get the screen up to a comfortable angle by slowly gradually tilting it up whilst the laptop warms up.

So this to me indicates a loose connection to the inverter but the question is WHERE !

In the chassis or the screen assembly. Maybe I'm completely wrong and the inverter needs replaces.

What do you guys think ?

I have had exactly the same fault

It is the cable , but you will need to take apart bezel and take the upper
cover off the main keyboard section , to gain access to both ends of
the cable , I got a second hand cable for 12.99 , new ones are about 30

It may literally be a loose connection. I had this twice with my old Dell. Followed the dismantling instructions on Dells website and just treat the cable. It lasted 3 years before I had to do it again.

Well thank you guys ... I finally got round to doing this today as I ordered an inverter cable earlier this week just in case. Took around an hour then I did a bit of housekeeping by clearing up the inners

Lovely ... Now if only I can upgrade the laptop fan :/ It's getting a bit noisy
