Caledonian Sleeper Train / Ben Nevis

Ben nevis is quite an easy climb but it can also be pretty dangerous. If there is snow on top and clouds you won't be able to see 10m in front of you or be able to tell your direction. There are some pretty hefty drops not far off the path (which might not be visible). Take a good map and compass (and GPS if you have one) and know how to use them.

Not used the sleeper service before. Looks quite nice - better than sleepers I've taking in Europe.

Where you travelling from? We were 400 miles away and I drove there and back. Travel up, sleep, do big ben, sleep, travel back.

Anyway, I recommend the carn mor dearg arete route up. Miles better than the tourist track and a lot more worthwhile.

Search it on the net for details.

Going to be climbing on September 7th so there's a fair chance of rain and cloud. I will be getting a map and compass, also we have two GPS as well.

Travelling from London Euston. Decided to use the sleeper as I like them and also it allows me to do it with no time off work i.e. Friday night train, climb Saturday, rest Sunday, train back Sunday night, get to Euston at 7:45am and head to work.

The sleeper trains are ok, used to catch them from London to Aberdeen and back every 2 weeks. Quite noisy as expected though and sometimes full of drunks :D
