Hi,

dilemma time......

do I keep the iPad or move to the nexus 7..... have recently moved from iPhone 4 to SGS3 and loving the move.

I do have a mac and the syncing from iTunes to the iPhone 4 / iPad is the only thing I would miss (music/films/TV shows) I think the apps for the iPhone/iPad are more mature and polished. Although i think Android apps are improving a great deal

I like the look of the nexus 7 2in less will make a lot of difference to it's portability, but not a great deal to viewing i would had thought.

Any one have an opinion or witching ?
thanks

I probably wouldn't at the moment as the Android apps still need quite a lot of work when it comes to tablets.

I've never personally had a major problem with Android apps on tablets. Yes its true some of them are not designed for the real estate of a tablet but most of them look fine even with on a large screen tablet, unless its some app which was created like 2 years ago and not updated. The worst I've seen is the official Photobucket app, looks like the graphics were designed for a 2" VGA screen. it looks terrible on my Galaxy Nexus too.

The wife has an iPad 3 and I can tell you for sure that the iPhone apps look utterly terrible on the iPad, take up half the screen and look rubbish generally. It's pretty much iPad apps are for iPads and iPhone apps are for iPhone.

Atleast with Android you can more of less run any app on any device.

They may have done but most of of them look and run ok these days. What are you basing this on, hearsay, iPad love or personal use?

All three. I also don't 'love' the iPad, just until now it's been pretty much unmatched if you think apps are an important part of a tablet, and for me (and everyone I've asked) they are.

There are loads and loads of excellent quality ones on the Apple app store, and the Android store (tablet wise) isn't great in comparison. I can't see how anyone could disagree with that at the moment.

The point that the chap above made about it being okay because the phone ones look good enough isn't really relevant either, I don't want phone apps on a big screen, I want ones that have been designed with it in mind.

The guy is asking whether he should switch from a 32GB (twice as much storage) iPad 2 (just as quick as the Nexus 7). Not whether he should buy one or the other.

As it stands, it really isn't worth it for anything other than portability, or something Android-specific that you need; which would be fair enough, but doesn't seem to be the case here.

Thanks for the replies (flame war)

I could get a nexus 7 and make some cash by selling the iPad 2, however would the experince still be up to scratch..? All I use the iPad for are some games (generally iPad specific ones) Tomtom (it's not to bad once you get use to having a massive satnav ;p ) Facebook, google+ ocado, kindle, web browser, Skype, RSS reader and thats probably about it.
The nicest thing is just being able to sync content from iTunes effortlessly.

I'll stick with the iPad for now and wait and see how the android tab market develops or get the 7in iPad when it comes out :D

thanks

The experience on the Nexus would be 'up to scratch', absolutely. You should be able to find most of those things bar TomTom; that isn't on Android.

There would obviously be no iTunes syncing. :p
