Hi all,

So this is what I'd like to understand please:

What is so special about a Honda Integra Type R - DC5?

Thanks

From what I understand its a nicer looking Civic Type R with a LSD and a bit more power and a little less weight.

Nice little car by all accounts.

The best naturally aspirated petrol engine ever produced in what is one of the best handling fwd drive chassis ever produced.

It's a winning combination.

Best NA petrol engine full stop? or best NA petrol engine in a FWD car?

I'm sure there are a good few arguements against it being best NA engine ever, ie there's a few damn special V8s/V10/V12s

So the hyperbole begins....the K20 is amongst the best naturally aspirated four pot engines, but the best naturally aspirated engine ever? Hmmm!

Quite. I'd certainly rate the Straight-6 S54 in the E46 CSL as a "better" N/A engine than the Honda's, and that's before we start talking V8+

I should have added the four pot part, I'm well aware there are better NA engines, but I they are larger capacity and with more cylinders.

Out of curiosity how many production NA engines produce more bhp/litre than the K20

I'd be inclined to argue against a torqueless vtec being the best na 4 pot too....
If its vtec's you want, surely the s2000 is more vtec'y anyway :P

I don't really understand this BHP/lite thing. Sure it sounds impressive but what difference does it make?

It's the epeen of driving a technological masterpiece... and it explains the engine dynamic. Hondas, Ferrari's, Porches all cars you drive hard to get the most out of them.

I loved the K20 in my EP3, but the gearbox was best memory I took from it in terms of driving experience. I love thrashing cars so the engine suited me well but the gearbox made it all that much worthwhile.

I think the great appeal is that these cars can be revved to the redline on a daily basis and just take it in their stride. Just keep the oil topped up and drive. I did 40K in my EP3, thrashed the living daylights out of it every day and it never complained. Miss it.

indeed :)

Personally, (Im not trying to be contraversial)
But i much prefer a square 2.0 litre with power a bit lower down than say a k20 that you have to rev the balls off. Even if you scarifice top end power because of it
I accept this is probably not the most common of opinions though

A stock K20 is an acquired taste.

A remapped K20 however is something else - you get the mid range and the top end.
