The Republic of Gamers consists only the best of the best. We offer the best hardware engineering, the fastest performance, the most innovating ideas, and we welcome the best gamers to join in.

In the Republic of Gamers, mercy rules are only for the weak, and bragging rights means everything. We believe in making statements and we excel in competitions. If your character matches our trait, then join the elite club, make your presence felt, in the Republic of Gamers.

Knowing information is key in any situation. Monitor the status of your system in real-time with a convenient graphical overlay displayed right on screen with OSD Monitor. It allows you to view POST codes in real-time, complete hardware status and even the readout from VGA Hotwire and Subzero Sense, all at a pure hardware level.

Tweak the parameters of your system in real-time with a convenient graphical overlay displayed right on the screen with OSD TweakIt. It provides you with a set of critical and hardware-driven functions so you can tweak your system on-the-fly.

An industry first, ASUS has place Thunderbolt I/O technology onboard its motherboards, and are set to revolutionize the speed at which peripherals and displays operate. Featuring a maximum bi-directional speed of 10 Gbps, Thunderbolt is 2 times faster than USB 3.0 and an incredible 20 times faster than USB 2.0. And with the ability to daisy-chain up to six devices without the need for a hub or switch, that means less overheard for a clutter free computing experience. For example, users can connect multiple native Thunderbolt storage devices, an HD video capture device and even an HD display to a single Thunderbolt chain while maintaining maximum throughput.

Love to overvolt but got mad trimming the tiny variable resistors? With the VGA Hotwire feature, plug the two-wire cable onboard and solder two wires on the VGA's voltage regulator and accurately adjust the voltage, taking your system to the next level while avoiding some risks.

Love overclocking in LN2 mode, but have trouble finding out just how cold your board is? Worry no more, with Subzero Sense you can read the system’s temperature even in its coldest subzero degrees temperature.

Hook up immediate extra connectivity to the ROG motherboard and say so long to physical limitations. The unique Combo attaches to the motherboard near the rear I/O , and comes with one mSATA port supporting Intel® Smart Response Technology hybrid storage acceleration with compatible mSATA SSDs, and a dual band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth v4.0 card bundled into its mini PCI Express 2.0/USB 2.0 combo port on the opposite side. This way, you can connect extra devices without taking up valuable space on the motherboard, and get the best of both worlds: for better connectivity and expandability without sacrificing essential features.

Monitor the status of your desktop PC and tweak its parameters in real-time via a notebook—just like a race car engineer—with ROG Connect. ROG Connect links your main system to a notebook through a USB cable, allowing you to view real-time POST code and hardware status readouts on your notebook, as well as make on-the-fly parameter adjustments at a purely hardware level.

The Extreme Engine Digi+ II has been upgraded and equipped with the finest Japan-made 10K Black Metallic capacitors, while the digital VRM design allows you to achieve ultimate performance with adjustable CPU and memory power management frequencies. Precise adjustments create greater efficiency, stability, double lifespan and performance for total system control.

PCI-E slot layout looks better than maximus iv.

Heatsinks look nicer too.

Still not sure why they feel the need to add 3rd party usb 3.0 now that there's support from intel though. The third party usb 3.0 on maximus iv was awful.

Not entirely sure myself but other than the Z55X-UP5 TH, Z77 Sniper 3 and the P8Z77 Premium (with thunderbolt) theres not much else that can compete on spec or stand much of a chance in terms of ultimate performance. (maybe the Z77 Extreme 9 by ASRock but I havent experienced that board as yet...)

Do OcUK still charge your card when the order is placed or is it at dispatch

was just about to preorder from germany

I think the near 100% usb 3.0 rear I/O on the iv was just willy-waving that backfired. The v has a much better usb support. Who needs all those usb 3.0 ports anyway? 2 is fine for gamers or overclockers.

This is definitely a board to consider if you want the best of the best for 1155

We do however Supplier will have stock for Friday, Ill pester to see if I can get them for Friday afternoon (A Saturday del if your that desperate for it lol).. Failing that.. it will be Monday and you'll get it Tuesday/Wednesday depending on what time they land on the Monday :)

does anyone have any news about future x79 boards or is the r4e the best we're likely to get right now? Be good to have like an sr-2 style board for 2 hex-core socket 2011 processors with the 8 ram slots.

The 38xx/39xx Sandybridge-E CPUs can't be used in a dual CPU config, as far as I know and so you'd need to look at Xeons which can't be overclocked via the multiplier, so an ROG board along the lines of what you're describing would be of limited value.

Outside of the enterprise there isn't a great demand for dual (or greater) CPU sockets as the raw computing muscle thats available on a single die is already considered to be beyond the point of reason for 99.9% of desktop applications.

What you seek is this :-

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/Z9PED8_WS/

... but it's not X79 as it doesn't cater for multiple CPUs, instead it's C602.

The Hex Core Core 7 X79 do not support dual QPI links so cant work together so as has been pointed out you need Xeons, which are in this generation locked.

I spoke with Shamino a while ago about this and he said no ROG board until Intel provide unlocked Xeons if they ever do.

Having said all that RIVE is a quality product I have two both take some hammer and are still going very strong.

The Formula Z77 and Xtreme are both excellent additions to the range too especially for those into getting the last bit from there systems

I like the slot layout and watercool VRM without being a stupid price when it comes to the formula.

The specs mention wireless , is this via a addin card included or is it built on the board and you have to attach the wireless aerial on the IO plate somewhere ?

as it would be great for me as I have to use wireless were I live, currently high end card to do the job but would prefer to have the slot back for something else

Think it's Via the Asus addon slot at the top of the board. Can be used for the wireless card (asus supplies) or some form of memory storage if I remember correctly.
