Is it possible to have a 1 week holiday in Cornwall for £400-£500?

Me and my girlfriend are looking at going on holiday down to Cornwall for 7 days (6 nights) on a budget of around £400 - £500. Neither of us can currently drive so we would want to be in range of a train station/bus station so we can travel around if we fancy it.

We would be looking to go between in August, preferably checking in on a Saturday and leaving on a Saturday.

Is this even possible on this budget?

If not where (in the UK) would be viable for this sort of budget?

Thanks guys. :)

Honestly don't waste the money, save up a little more, get your passport and go abroad. Holidaying in the UK is just as expensive but you get poor weather.

What do you like to do? You could spend a long weekend in London - there are tonnes of free galleries/museums, if they float your boat.

I'm more of a beach kind of person, the girlfriend likes sight seeing. London could be good, it is fairly close to home however, I'll have to see what she thinks. :)

I would do this, I'm all for going abroad. Never been on a plane so I find it kind of exciting! Only problem is my girlfriend is scared of planes. And the sea. So flights/ferries seem kind of outta the question. :/ Unless I could convince her, that is.

Get your passport! It can take up to six weeks, as you have to attend an interview, but it'll be worth it as it opens up the World.

As said, you can get to the continent and stay in better places than Cornwall for less money. A long weekend in Brittany would be much nicer.

Tell her to man up and stop holding you back.

If going abroad isn't an option then how about Edinburgh? You can get the train from London in 5 hours or so, it's a nice city (I don't think it's underwater atm) and there are quite a lot of things to do.

However, it might be out of your budget.

York is also fantastic, and much closer.

isn't it like £80 for a passport, so for the 2 of them that's £160 out of their £500 gone just like that.

She may have one, but I see your point.

Its definitely cheaper to go abroad. Although me and the g/f got a good deal through a friend that works for easy jet. £230 each for a week in Crete.

Without wanting to sound like Fox, you can't tell us that holiday is much abroad because you have access to deals that the vast majority of us don't. It's ust redundant.

She has got a passport as she has been abroad with family before. Edinburgh could be good. My brother lives in Glasgow, I could meet up with him or something if we went there.

Never though of York, I'll have a look!

Bad example but it was only just over £300 for a week in Rhodes last year with no discount. I'm sure there are cheaper last minute deals.
