As futureproof as possible Business PC, sanity check please!

Good spot, for the sake of £20, I've bumped it up to the 3770k 3.5GHz instead.
Dropped the mobo down to the one you suggest too stulid, drops a few USB 3 ports but not many devices out yet so not too much of a problem.

The asrock mobo is a half way house pricewise between the GB you selected and what stulid said you could get away with. It will overclock better than the entry level GB mobo. You have plenty of good help in here I just thought i put this out there for consideration.

Just noticed you aren't far from getting free P&P so it's worth discussing the options bud ;)

Thanks honosuseri, was the PSU and case swap to be quieter?

Btw, where is the spec builder? or is that a power user feature I don't have access to yet?

Shall we do a countdown to 100? ;) Don't edit, make new posts lol

The case is a lil cheaper, still had the sound proofing and I thought it might look a bit more professional than the bitfenix if you know what I mean.

The PSU is modular, so you wont have the GPU power cables cluttering up the case. Less clutter equals better temps which means better overclocks ;) It has more than enough power and they are a nice quiet lil unit. I was quite impressed with the 600W unit when i first used it a while back.....it has rubber strips to help sound proofing further.

You'll be asking about the SSD and mobo next no doubt? ;)

I don't need to play the system as I'm not paying for the postage anyway so it should be fine :)

haha fair do's mate. I thought every little helps.

The GB does have a better warranty true. The Asrock uses all 8 pins for the aux power whilst the GB only uses 4. If you were tempted to overclock and you should be with a K edition and aftermarket heatsink, the Asrock should be better and it does look nice.....not sure the THX rated audio will help sway things but it has it over the GB.

Nothing really wrong with what you spec'd from the get go. We can all balance things out differently, there is no real right or wrong answer. I think you have a good idea of what's what now.....unless you have anymore questions?

Not really, thanks for all the advice.

I guess the monitor question is a tricky one if no-one has them.
I'm not sure 120Hz and 1ms response has much benefit when you're using Excel and Sage every day...

A end-user reviewed it here - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums...ry-but-Complete-Z77-GIGABYTE-Z77-D3H-OC-Guide

Seems to overclock very well indeed for its price point, but different CPU's vary as to how far they can go (CPU lottery);)

Yes mate all true. I find it funny when we argue over warranty seeing as the poor souls buying prebuilt rigs or preoverclocked bundles only get 1 year for the whole lot.

The Asrock is spec'd well and is technically the better mobo. It's the style as much as anything that sells it. I won't complain if he uses the GB mobo to save cash and get the extra year warranty.

I would argue if you save cash on the mobo, chuck a lil more at the heatsink. Even £30ish for the CM 612S or the matterhorn would make sense. They have more heatpipes over the gelid......i own a tranquillo it's good and quiet, again it depends how fussy we want to be over the components.

His dad should be well pleased :)
