I am constantly being advised that my Primary partiton is running out of space. After checking the size of al the files inc the hidden ones I cannot figure out were the missing 10GB is

I have already compressed the parition and really dont want to go to the length of formating it. My Docs have already been relocated to another Partition.

Is there any other way of indentifying the culprit/s

I'd advise against compressing your system drive, it will take an age to open things.

Probably taken up by System Restore files.

Disable System Restore and see if it gives you the space back.

Other places it's likely to be.. pagefile.sys, hiberfil.sys (pagefile and hibernation file), if you don't use hibernation, then disable it and delete the file.

Run CCleaner to remove temp files, it'll probably clear out a lot of space if you've never used it before. Especially the 'hotfix backup remover' section

CCleaner is well worth a run though, excellent tool.

Personally, I only use it for clearing up temp files and I steer clear of the 'Registry' section
