Ian Tomlinson unlawfully killed by Pc

Won't be long until he's back in uniform and able to beat innocent civilians up at will, without the consequences that the rest of us would face for these actions.

I'm not so sure he will be exonerated at his disciplinary hearing. Previous incidents are used against you.

Sure, Mr Tomlinson was being a bit of a prat on the day. I deal with prats most days at work, I certainly don't violently shove them to the floor!

Same here.

I hope the jury now hear about his (Harwood's) previous shenanigans and are suitably ashamed.

Why would they be ashamed? You don't convict someone of manslaughter just because they've been a **** in the past. If anything your reaction proves why it's a good idea that a jury would not know.

The police can't do their job without being able to baton people, that's why we give them battons (and tasers and pepper spray and guns and possibly water cannons)

They also can't pussy foot about and not use them just because one guy in a million might die from being poked with one.

The whole case is stupid and a waste of money.

However the guy does look like a bit of a liability for the Met, so they should farm him off to light traffic duty with a slapped wrist ASAP.

Why are people criticising the verdict?

Because people don't look at the big picture. We're lucky as hell in this country to have a competent and uncorrupt police force, to which we grant certain powers to use in situations they deem acceptable. Regrettable that Tomlinson died but the verdict was the correct one.

Correct verdict, Tomlinson was a self induced wreck, and was very fragile.

It's immaterial if the police officer was a *****, a large amount of them are but that shouldn't get them done for manslaughter.

I have just read details of PC Harwoods Police past....unbelievable the he could resign to avoid a disciplinary procedure in 2001 and three days later get a job with the met as a civilian...not only that, he went on to join the Surrey force later on and then rejoined the Met and had complaints made against him by other officers due to his violent behavior:confused:

The funny thing about the above though is the Police tend to follow the opposite rules, deliberately targeting or watching "known troublemakers" yet as soon as it gets to the next stage of the legal process suddenly people shouldn't be judged by their past.

We have neither a competent or uncorrupted police force, today's verdict and the lead up to it shows that.

It doesn't make it right though... and that's why the police don't have the ability to judge people - except for minor things (which they abuse).

HE tried several times and was turned back into the 'conflict zone' every time. Several pieces of CCTV footage show this.

Calling Mr Tomlinson an 'IT' jus shows how sub-human you are. I'm willing to bet that if he was a member of your family you'd be clammoring for Harwood to be hung.

I wasn't calling him an "it". I was using his initials as at the time I was posting from a phone.

IT = Ian Tomlinson!

Further up as well I used SH rather than type Simon Harwood.
