Hey all.
I made a thread about an AV Receiver:
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...hp?t=18418364&

I was going to buy one of the ones mentioned, but I had a great deal show on a forum and now have a mint condition Sony DA5200ES that I paid £120 delivered for.

These were £900 (ish) new in 2007 and I can probably get £300 for it on ebay. It is a cracking unit, but obviously has no 3D abilities (my TV not 3D but may get a new one in 12 months time) and the front USB port is useless as it only accepts a few outdated mp3 players. You get the idea - It was the dogs nuts when it came out but technology moves quickly. It is a real belter at 115W per channel. The unit looks new and has everything present aside from the original box.

Should I sell it off and buy the likes of the Denon AVR1912, Yamaha RXV671 or STR-DH820?

What speakers you using with it? I'd probs keep unless you need the networking features etc of newer models... I deffo need iPad control cos my amp lives in the cupboard

I would keep it, in general the older AV amps have much better power amp sections compared to new AV amps. A good quality older amp will sound better playing high bitrate DTS/DD over a mid level newer amp decoding HD audio. A lot of buyers get blinkered with HD audio and what features an amp has rather than how good it sounds.

I am using a some Boston A26 2.0s.
May add my sub from my old system. It is a £50 10 year old Argos sub but it will add the bass that the bookshelf speakers are lacking.

I would keep it, it will blow away all the other amps you mentioned, why downgrade so much?

I am afraid I am very much an audio noob and don't know any better :p.
