The SAPPHIRE HD 7970 6GB TOXIC Edition is based on the latest HD 7970 GHz Edition GPU from AMD, together with a host of industry first and exclusive features to deliver maximum performance. Its unique 6GB frame buffer is a World first for a consumer graphics card and makes the TOXIC Edition ideally suited to multi-screen gaming as well as providing the extra memory required for demanding professional applications such as content creation, video editing or rendering.

Performance is also World leading. By default, the HD 7970 6GB TOXIC Edition runs at 1050 MHz and dynamic boosts to 1100 MHz on the engine with the memory clock at 6000 MHz effective. By pressing the new SAPPHIRE exclusive Lethal Boost Button, the beast is unleashed, boosting the core clock speed to 1100 MHz with dynamic boost to an industry first of 1200 MHz on the engine while the memory is further overclocked to 6400 MHz Effective. The fan profile and PowerTune limit is also changed to performance settings. In addition, users will be able to individually tune the card with SAPPHIRE TriXX, the company’s free to download software tool that allows key parameters to be adjusted for maximum performance.

was almost scared to click on this to find out how much it was.

£500 not as much as i thought tbh

Lmao how can 6gig of ram be overkill? to me that screams future proof (maybe) with the amount of Oc it should do.
Looks a great bit of kit

It's overkill becuase you'll run out of GPU power well before VRAM becomes a limitation. You can put 1TB VRAM on a 5450, but it won't be any more futureproof than the 1gb version.

I think they should give these away to anyone who can prove they need 6gb vram today

+1:D

I reckon there will be very very very few people, ie those running 6x 1080 screens

i think companies are seriously just willie waving these days.

"hey evga, look what we can do. take your FTW and shove it."

6gb is not really that nuts when you think about it.

A card manufacturer can throw as much ram as they want on a graphics card. Why don't more do this then? Because its pointless and has no benefit. This card is nothing more than an excuse for higher prices and more profit. The only people who will buy this are those who think that more vram = more fps or those that think they need it for multiple screens. Both are misinformed. This card is a waste of money no matter what way you look at it.

Hmm 3x30" screens would would even be pointless if you went tri-fire you'd still not have the power to push them with AA taking over 3gb like max payne 3 top settings which tanks on 1 30" screen with 1 7970 for me on max x8 MSAA taking 3300mb max..............What exactly are these for..........Metro will tank on this principal too. ''Look at my massive bulbous willy that no woman on earth can accomodate so I'm still a virgin graphics card''

Agreed. Unless the person buying this got one grand to spend of a pair of these in Crossfire, the extra vram will have no benefit at all even at ultra high res...as the GPU will give out way before the lack of vram become an issue.

I find it riduculous that manufacturers always want to make a quick bucks for charging over £100 extra for memory that don't worth ANYWHERE as much. Rather than extra memory, I think the extra £100+ would more worth it if they can somehow factory clock the 7970 to 1,500MHz on the core clock stable while keeping the temp under control.
