Agreed. Unless the person buying this got one grand to spend of a pair of these in Crossfire, the extra vram will have no benefit at all even at ultra high res...as the GPU will give out way before the lack of vram become an issue.
I find it riduculous that manufacturers always want to make a quick bucks for charging over £100 extra for memory that don't worth ANYWHERE as much. Rather than extra memory, I think the extra £100+ would more worth it if they can somehow factory clock the 7970 to 1,500MHz on the core clock stable while keeping the temp under control.
I reckon there will be very very very few people, ie those running 6x 1080 screens
They'd probably be quite annoyed too, since I think you can only attach 5 screens to this graphics card...
You wouldn't just have one card for 6 screens though more like 3
But don't all the screens have to be connected to the first card in crossfire setups?
Seems people are missing the point with the custom enthusiast cards.. This card isn't meant to be a value card, there are plenty of cheap 7970's out there already, with this card the emphasis is on overkill, parts, clocks, memory and cooling all ott. This is an enthusiast card not a budget one..
