**SAPPHIRE TOXIC 6GB 7970 GHZ NOW AVAILABLE FROM OcUK!!**

Agreed. Unless the person buying this got one grand to spend of a pair of these in Crossfire, the extra vram will have no benefit at all even at ultra high res...as the GPU will give out way before the lack of vram become an issue.

I find it riduculous that manufacturers always want to make a quick bucks for charging over £100 extra for memory that don't worth ANYWHERE as much. Rather than extra memory, I think the extra £100+ would more worth it if they can somehow factory clock the 7970 to 1,500MHz on the core clock stable while keeping the temp under control.

Like I said. With any game today if you use over 3gb vram which is possible on a few titles you will tank. If you used trifire on a single monitor using 3.5gb of vram maybe just maybe its worth it but for multiple monitors you will run out of power before vram. However I must add that thias isn't DDR3-2400 we're talking about, this stuff is hella expensive and runs at a whole other level to regular ram.

But don't all the screens have to be connected to the first card in crossfire setups?

Yes......so actually an eyefinity 6 edition is the only way to serve 6 screens. So yeah delete that use scenario for this card too lol it's pointless unless you want metro/max payne with lots of AA on a 2560x1600 setup and don't buy one only or its stupid. Basically for it to have a purpose at all you need about 3 of them and they look to be just over 2 slots wide too!

For any multi-monitor setups wouldn't SLI/Xfire be better? You can easily get two great cards for same money...

Seems people are missing the point with the custom enthusiast cards.. This card isn't meant to be a value card, there are plenty of cheap 7970's out there already, with this card the emphasis is on overkill, parts, clocks, memory and cooling all ott. This is an enthusiast card not a budget one..

It seems you are missing the point yourself, not long ago OCUK had 7950's cheap as chips, Xfire was actually cheaper - and as you'd guess, outperformed :D

It's still pointless though.
