I was quite surprised not to find a thread (no matter how old) for the original Carmageddon on PC.
I can still remember playing the demo (uncensored version) over and over again. It was the best thing ever back then. But when it came to its release it was censored and humans were changed to zombies here in the UK. Even the intro movie was changed to show zombies and not humans, I think the best edited part is the 'start flag' guy right at the end of the intro before he gets mowed down, they've blatantly done a quick colour palette change from human skin colour to zombie green. (Why a zombie would be starting a race is just comical).
It didnt take long for a patch to come out and rectify that.
I did some searching around and have managed to find my original Carmageddon CD (Carmageddon 95 - Windows 95 version) and get it to run 100% on Windows Vista and XP, with the blood patch and no CD required in the drive.

If anyone needs any help with getting it to run using the above links / downloads, I may be able to help as it took me a while to get it to run as it was back in 1997.
In a nut shell, for a Carmageddon 95 installation and not need the CD to play, you do not need a No CD crack or anything like that. Just simply copy all the contents from the CD to a directory, now eject the CD and install Carmageddon to a new directory from the files you copied. (run setup.exe). Once installed you can play the game and it will think the directory you copied all the files to is the CD. However, it does not play the music and you cannot delete the directory you copied all the files to.
I havent tried using a Glide Wrapper to run Carmageddon in 3DFX mode with the patch.
So, who else remembers the classic Carmageddon and roll on Carmageddon Reincarnation!
