Why do people hate GFWL so much?

The bit where you claimed you were collecting all GFWL games, that's where.

So you'll be picking up Where's Waldo, presumably. And Carney Vale.

Edit - Ah, I've just seen the post about achievement noises! Brilliant :D

Yes I am collecting them, 18 so far. So no not rubbish and yes I will get around to getting Waldo as well at some point. Yes I also like achievement noises, but you don't so the idea is stupid and wrong. OK...........................

Might take some time to get them all, but it will happen. Thanks for the concern though.

I bought Insanely Twisted Planet yesterday in the steam sales, I didn't know it was GFWL, it crashes after launch as soon as the GFWL **** pops up.

so thats £2 down the drain :(

I will have to be more careful, I hate GFWL and avoid all games with it, unless I forget to check :/

Achievement Unlocked! You're lost all credibility on the forum!

Fee free to make a 'bing' sound when you read it.

If I cared about your narrow minded one sided views it would be an issue. But I don't :D Because I don't think I have attacked anyone for not liking it, but seem to get attacked for liking it. Very very narrow minded people who do that.

This isn't a GFWL problem. It's probably an issue with your gfx card:

The second link has a possible fix from the devs.

I was pleasantly surprised when I fired up Bulletstorm and only had to restart the game once. The last time I had to go through that was RF Guerilla and had to do it about 3 or 4 times. And of course, every single time it forgot my log in details and preferences so I had to retype them.
I only had to restart it twice, so it is an improvement from the last GFWL game I played.

To answer the topic:- "Haters gotta hate"

Some good replies, mostly terrible replies; merit to Vorhees1979.

GFWL is useful to me and I wish more games used it.

My first ever post was asking for GPU recommendations.

Lurking since 2004, waiting for the right topic to come up!

So pluses for GFWL:

It doesn't always crash games
It makes a nice bing! when you achieve something, like getting into a game
You can chat with other poor souls on GFWL

Anything else?

Opps forget this one for the group photo shoot ;)

plus I have another 20 on either Gamefly (TRON Evolution with GFWL is exclusive to Gamefly in UK),Steam or GFWM as some are exclusive to GFWM only or digital only or I only bought the digital copy in a sale. All in I have 59 GFWL titles now :D been collecting since the launch in 2007 ;) shame after Dark Souls & 3 Capcom 2013 games thats probably the end of GFWL

Of the 6 I do not own Namco's Legend Of Galactic Heroes is the hardest to track down its a 2008 japan only GFWL title which is ultra rare nowadays as OOP so commands a high price on ebay but its rare to ever see for sale in new condition with an unused CD key. Then there are 2 Australian Rules Football titles 1 you need to import from Australia the other came out in June 2012 @ £29.99 on GFWM think I will wait for a sale on that title

Did I miss something?

When did collecting games with GFWL on them become some sort of 'thing' you could brag about? Is it like collecting artwork or pottery with flaws in them?

Wow the childish arguments in this thread, so sad.

And yes I am one of the few people who don't have a problem with GFWL.

Since it's mainly the Capcom made games in my own collection, I find it works pretty well especially for the fighting games.

Ok; I was going to report the posts in here because I found some peoples 'debate' on the topic to be a bit too much like bullying.

Since Vorhees didn't take to it too badly then I thought I'd just make my first forum post (in ten years) to try and slide myself into the community with just a passing comment. The internet has changed a lot in that time, shame the attitudes of some people hasn't.

Rant over, that's an impressive collection! I've seen a few niche videogame collections but this was by far the least expected I've seen so far. Did you have to find out about those rares yourself or are there a group of gamers who collect these also?

Mate they could not afford me ;) in time people will see the truth when they turn off their hate filters ;) now that its too late GFWL was much better than the alternative being lined up especially for the indie scene if they want to make their game for XBLA & PC it has to be exclusive to Windows 8  which will either stop XBLA from getting decent indie games or stop PC I suspect PC will suffer more as indie devs will take the bribe from MS as its a guarantee to get your game on the MS App Store :(

I'm not sure how Microsoft making something even worse makes GFWL any better. Too many companies these days are exploiting their position in the market to force gamers to become another tick in the "yeah, we own them" column in their annual report.

I don't really have a problem with software like this (as unnecessary as I think it is) but when it fails to add anything worthwhile to my experience, and I'm given no choice as to whether I use it or not, it becomes an annoyance and I think I should be quite rightly allowed to express dissatisfaction.

Nah i don't care, don't let them get to me. Funny thing is though they won't even say sorry for saying I made your account lol. It is the norm for some of them.
