I think that's only for the people who already had the hardware in their area to achieve double their speed. Maybe in your area double your old speed was already available so all they had to do was up your package.

In my area they just don't provide 100mb yet so I can't get upgraded to it.

Yeah but even in areas capable of 100Mb, some of their doublespeed dates are next year, it's not about the area being capable, it's also about the area having enough bandwidth to support enough people on the faster speeds.

Some PVC insulated 7/0.2mm equipment wire for electronics projects and what not.

Got some free cable ties into the bargain too. Always handy for cable management.

wish I had a proper martial arts training club thingy around me, all there is around my way is boxing or steroids,...

Not sure if you be interested in Kendo or not, but there is a club in Cardriff which is 20 minutes by train for £5 return from where you are.

Have a very good friend there, you could ask them about joining the next beginners course: http://www.akai-ryuu.com/Pages/default.aspx

Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III, they are amazing (speakers).

These are truly magnificent when you turn the volume up, fyi I had creative t20's before but thought a 2.1 set would be better for games and general usage.

How right I was. I'm not sure everyone will like the styling, its still growing on me. Got them for £85 from my closest purple shirts shop, they're closing it down.

I'm now trying to find the best place to put the subwoofer, I had it in the corner of the room but it was a bit boomy, now its on the floor to the right of the desk. Might try it under the desk but I like the legroom.

Don't think a subwoofer should be on top of a desk, and you look like a tool.

Chuffed :D

Is investing in a good pair of speakers a good decision?

I got my PC running through a HDMI socket to my Samsung SyncMaster 2333HD television at the moment.
If its a living room setup probably better off with a decent home theatre system for room filling sound.

If you're using the tv as a pc monitor on your desk, then yes a decent set of pc speakers will be a lot better than the inbuilt tv speakers.

What is it that makes these so great? I've seen a lot of Mac setups with early Hardon Soundsticks, but I never really bothered looking into them. I just went with a pair of studio monitors.

Really clear sound, lows + mids + highs all well represented.

Subwoofer has a tasteful amount of boom not a huge amount that swamps everything.

I like how "clean" they sound, they sound like a reference set of speakers.

It baffles me too, it looks like its all high and low with no mid.

I guess for the money (£80) they are not bad, and it would be unfair to say my speakers are better as they do cost more.

I just rang up asking when the doublespeed upgrade would be coming to my area, he checked the internal checker which said October 2012, I said that's a bit far away, is there anything that can be done to get the upgrade sooner, he put me on hold for a little while then upgraded me early.

Mine required a bit more faff, phoned up today and took 3 attemps at persuading the guy that I should not be charged extra to upgrade early. I'm now on 100Mb :) The 120 upgrade will happen in accordance with doublespeed though, July 2013 :/

Those days are still not over for many of us *long face*.

Try 260kbs...

That's what I get maxed out.

That is terrible and barely faster than my first cable line back in 2001~!
