**** The Official Superman - Man Of Steel Discussion Thread ****

Yes the movie was meant to be out December this year. But was pushed back and for good reason.

One of those reasons being that The Hobbit is taking center stage at that time. Also Warners/DC don't have any big movies out in Summer 2013, so Man Of Steel was perfect for that time. Plus, June 2013 will be Superman's 75th birthday since he was introduced in Action Comics #1. So it all fits into place perfectly. Plus it gives them plenty of time to really work their magic for the movie's release next year.

I saw the teaser myself before last night's showing of TDKR at ODEON Metrocentre. I screamed with epic joy after it showed. I think it's fair to say everyone thought I lost it. But being a big Superman fan (the sig is Kryptonese for my profile name CK61938), I was so overjoyed by this. And finally someone used sonic boom for Superman's flight. That just tells you how awesome it will be.

People are forgetting that in the comic-con panel Zack Snyder said the footage shown was for the panel only. And the teaser would be shorter. Yes, people probably expected action, but it's a TEASER. Give it 6mths and I reckon they will throw in the first full trailer ahead of The Hobbit.

Another thing, if anyone is interested, I have done tons of videos on all things Superman, Smallville, comic books and movies on YouTube. Just click on the link in my sig and enjoy :)

Roll on June 14 2013. Man Of Steel comes to town.

Also to the people asking why they couldn't just do a movie based on Smallville, really?

I watched all 10 seasons of Smallville. Enjoyed it mostly. Hated most of season 10. Seasons 3 and 9 were my faves. You'll even see some of my reviews on YouTube.

But reasons why Smallville wasn't continued in a movie:

They wanted something new on the character
They wanted someone else to play the character
It was the right time to reboot the origin of the character (we've only had one origin movie and that was back in 1978)
Superman Returns didn't do as well as they hoped it would
Tom Welling never wore the Superman suit in Smallville so why would we expect any different in a movie?
People have been wanting an epic Superman movie for a long time.
And if you want to see a Smallville movie, watch Absolute Justice.

You’re not just anyone, one day you’re going to have to make a choice; you have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be. Whoever that man is good character or bad, is going to change the world.

Seriously I'm well excited about this film after watching the trailer. Crowe and Costner in one film and Nolan producing. Another year!!!! This is so hard. Waiting for batman was hard. Waiting, always waiting:D

Looks immense. Easily my favourite superhero.

A shame they didn't build a trilogy from the 2006 film. I thought it was very good.

I really enjoyed the 2006 film too - I just wish they hadn't made superman so "camp". Would have been a decent start to the trilogy. They do need to stop using Lex Luthor as the bad guy though, that is getting a little old.

My guess is that Hans Zimmer is still working on the score for the film, being a year away until release.

From both teasers, it's looking like the Superman everyone wants to see. Can't wait for it's release!

Didn't have a superman trailer before my vieiwng of TDKR, but that teaser looks pretty well produced and on track to move away from the normal 'campy' superhero films that get churned out.

Saw the trailer at DKR. Was it just me or are they using Lord of the Rings music in the trailer?

People forget that many teasers/trailers use music from other movies or just music that are not related to their movie in question. But the second this teaser is released everyone throws their arms up in the air cos it's using music from LoTR.

The footage they showed at Comic-Con had music from The Thin Red Line. Which so happens to have been done by Hans Zimmer.

Can we just stop picking faults such as the music for this and enjoy the teaser?

As mentioned Hans Zimmer has probably just started on the score. I reckon in about 6mths time (I'm hoping before The Hobbit) we will get the first full trailer and maybe a snippet of the theme.

loved the teaser and music, this is the dark knight of Superman

I hope its done well and we got a trio of films, Superman and Batman have always been my favs with DC, but its a massive universe.

I also loved smallville while totally different and not quite the superman we wanted it did tie it all up nicely in the end and he did become superman and used all his powers and flight and suited up, im glad they ended it the way it did.

I watched quickly on my phone but as good as the S3 screen is I must see it larger res so will give a full verdict when I get home!
