SABORTOOTH 990fx, all new ones have a sticker on the box saying they support the new fx :) ive brought 5 in the last month and every one has worked out the box.

hope this helps.

because ive looked at all the benchmarks results for i5 760 v fx 8120 and my i5 760 @4ghz
comes nowhere the performance of a 8120 at stock 3.1ghz.
also my cpu @4ghz is so hot 35 idle 75 prime95
i can get my new 8120 to 4.6ghz with a lot less heat and it will destroy my i5 760

just new there would be an intel fanboy reply lol

Gamingwise the 760 beats the FX (the gaming graphs are at the bottom), but for things that uses many cores the FX wins. The FX performs under the Phenom IIs.

What do you do on the PC OP? If you game a lot, sell the 8120 and keep your current system. If you use a lot of software that uses a lot of cores such as rendering for video encoding then go for it.

Please bare in mind benchmarks usually mean nothing. You need to properly check reviews to see if it suits your needs. The reason why the FX cores better is because it can handle 8 threads over the 760's 4, and the extra cores usually do nothing when gaming.

What a lot of tripe. Going by the Anandtech cpu bench the i5 760 at stock beats the FX8150 in half the benchies despite the 8150 having a 800mhz advantage. At 4Ghz the 760 would beat it in most, if not everything. 35 degrees at idle is nothing. You do realise the FX series run hotter and consume more power?

As for being a fanboy that's bull. I just go for whoever gives me the best bang for buck. Until the core2duo came out i had AMD 754 and 939 rigs. Since then AMD has always been on the backfoot.

Actually, in the case of the anandtech of the i5 760 against the FX8150, it's in favour of the FX8150, but there's stupid amount of factors involved.

Ok, not quite half but nine clear wins including every gaming one. If the i5 was at the same clockspeed no doubt it would pull quite a few extra wins from the other benchies.

It's a lot less than half, in those tests the FX8150 except in anything that needs IPC stamps on the i5.
Obviously, it's not the full picture.

OP's full of something if he thinks a 4GHZ i5 is losing against a 3.1GHZ FX8.
More likely a troll.

This forum is so funny remember my first post?
i have the 8120,i just wanted a board that would work with it straight out of the box.
i just want the MOTHERBOARD as im moving to amd
and will be able to upgrade my cpu to piledriver steamroller. whichever one i want .
i do a lot of mutlitasking.play games.video converting.virtual machines.you will see now why i have gone amd.more cores= everything i do with my pc will be faster

thanks for the replies but the only ones that interest me are about amd motherboards

peace to everyone :)

You cannot be serious.

I own bulldozers so i can assure you the thermal output is massive.
So is the power consumption, so make sure you have a good PSU.

An I5 of any flavour will not generte more heat, it would defy the laws of physics.

Don't be fooled by the dodgy AMD temp sensors.
Intel temp readings are not spot on but are much closer to reality than
AMD's, which are pure fiction.

Anyhow to answer the question get a Sabertooth.

Ah, since you're video converting and virtual machines, the 8120 will definitely be better than the 760. Might lose some FPS in games, but it won't be that much if you overclock the 8120.

Sabertooth is on offer now for cheaper than the Asrock you was looking at, and is a much better board: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-460-AS&groupid=701&catid=1903&subcat=2046

You better hurry though, the offer will end tomorrow.

EDIT: Scrap that, saw the time! It ends today, Wednesday at 12pm odd!
