Virus? My computer was locked apprently by West Yorkshire Police! Pic inlcuded

You should report it to the police also. Depending on the force, you will either get laughed at or in the proper forces, they will take it seriously.

yes this the police haev NOTHING to do and really want 10's of 1000's of calls saying I got malware....

Dunno, it would be a funny conversation to have with the police reception desk though.

I had a an FBI one of the other day, was a bugger to get rid of. I went for the quick option and rebuilt my pc in the end (ok after a couple of virus scans i gave up).
 
Aye metpolice infection.
Into safe mode, locate the file normally in yer appdata.
BE carefull however if its also hidden your files n stuff, sometimes it moves them to yer temp files, so if you run anythign that nukes yer temp files say goodbye to your personal bits n bobs, as well as your start menu sometimes, thats fun lol.
 
Seen this about 20 times past few weeks. I work in a PC Repair shop ;)

What I do is boot into safe mode, download ccleaner and install. Open it up and go to tools.. Startup... Then look through that list. It is the one with a weird name, random letters.
Take a pic if you can't see one.

Then run malware bytes and then restart.

I would recommend however backing up your stuff and reinstalling windows if you can after.

I got this nasty from some site when I was site hoping for stable E3 2012 streams, MSE got most of the payload, and Malware bytes got the rest. Not before it had Encrypted a vast majority of my files though. The actual .exe spoofed it self as deamon tools with some odd file names (Which I dont ever use), and was undetected by anything.

There was still something left that i needed Kaspersky TDSSKiller to get rid of some rootkit afterwards. Encrypted files were recovered using Kaspersky rannohdecryptor, which required you have a backup of at least one file that was encrypted (as they will all use the same key). Whats interesting is that it took minutes to encrypt terrabytes of files, and a day or two to decrypt them.

I have since uninstalled Java since I noticed a fair few adds kept trying to load it for some reason, and it seems all java is good for these days is for spreading trojens.
