*** The Official Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 Thread ***

Each year I see gaming sites regurgitating the "return to form" line, but this year I think the game will have changed dramatically. There have been some big changes in terms of personnel and I think they're going for a more flair-oriented game this time around which will hopefully mean the dribbling has been changed a bit. I'm not sure what it is, but it looks like the ball moves independently of the dribbler, as if the ball is on a stick and the player is just running after it, rather than dictating the path of it, it looks really wooden and disjointed. I guess it doesn't help that the players seem to have about 3 frames of running animation which looks like it is looped over and over, it looks and feels really bad in my opinion.

Still, I'm looking forward to trying out 2013, if it's a decent game then I could happily ditch FIFA, the amount of money I've spent on Ultimate Team over the past 4 years isn't worth thinking about... :p

It was originally marked as the 24th for the PS3, but that seems to have been changed, so it's tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to it, it looks really good.

Ah damn, I really want to try it out too, but cant find any dates for the PC ver. :(

Console people let us know how you find the demo.

I was a Konami man from the last PS1 version throught to PES6.

As much as I enjoy FIFA, it just doesn't have that certain something PES had back in the day.

I still have PES4 and I may have to have a go for old time's sake soon.

However, I have the fondest memory for the the first PES on PS2..it just seemed so random and unpredictable like real football...The pitches seemed bigger (I always feel FIFA pitches are too small when I play it)

Can't wait to try this out, far as I'm concerned they're back to the level where I'm looking for minor refinements rather than wholesale changes.

Shooting looks to be improved, the flight of the ball looks a lot more true than it's been in the more recent versions. Hopefully they don't overdo that backheel volley, happens quite a lot in football games where they put in a unique animation such as that and players attempt it far more often than in real life, starts to look silly after a while.

Probably take a while to get used to, but I'm onboard basically no matter what. Hopefully it's also good enough to convince a few others that it's starting to reach the old standard.

I can't wait to try the demo out, the latest video makes the gameplay look fantastic, it looks how I wanted 2012 to be. I know it doesn't have every league fully licensed but apparently La Liga will have all of the stadiums, not just the teams. Not that it matters because of the modding community.

Doesn't usually take them long to get an option file out with all the correct kits and names etc. Apparently there is going to be ten La Liga stadiums on release and the other ten in free day one DLC. Unfortunately there only seems to be two English stadiums up to yet.

I'm not too bothered at the moment, if the gameplay is rubbish I won't be buying it, though it looks very promising. FIFA is stale for me too, it feels very scripted at times, most matches feel dull and I agree with the poster who said the pitches feel strangely small.

I also agree about the pitches feeling small on FIFA (and that's not just against good people online or anything, it's most of the time).

I know you don't get much time on the ball in FIFA but is that the small pitches or opponents playing high pressure?

I've never noticed that about FIFA, it's more the general feel I don't like. It's slow and clunky, like they want you to go through twice the amount of animations necessary for every movement no matter how small. I really enjoyed FIFA 08 and thought they were on to something, unfortunately I've enjoyed every game since less and less to the point I now can't stand controlling their tanks disgued as footballers.
