Hi guy's I'm going to Manchester last weekend of September and I need a bit of advice.

I don't know the place at all so start from scratch. Hotel is booked up we'll get taxi's from the hotel 2.5 miles away into city centre.

What I need is:

1, Places to eat. We like good food doesn't have to be cheap. We tend to like normal sort of grub done well so like Kobe Burgers, great steaks and roasts etc or some good italian based pasta dishes or chicken dishes etc. Even a higher end buffet would be nice. The nicer looking the venue the better.

2, Where to go on the night for drinks? We're all mid 20's hitting 30's we like busy classy sort of bars again great looking venues. Tend to like R'nB music most of us or dance. But music isn't all that important more the place and the crowd there. No chavvy kid's etc.

What do you guy's recommend?

P.S. I've been to a few places and theres a group of 5 lads and Leeds was terrible hardly got in anywhere. I want to get all the lads in so how would I get in all of the places we want to go? Can I get on a guestlist etc? That'll help.

Well for somewhere to actually go out, looking at your spec you would fit in on Deansgate Locks. Stear clear of Deansgate its self and the Printworks (chavy) but you could always do some drinks in Castlefield before going to the Locks. Eating wise...Dukes 92 or Alberts Shed if you fancy splashing the cash...not got much of an idea food wise tbh.

The Locks have a dress code, the drinks are quite expensive but the venues are quite good

What's the dress code? Non of us like to go out in suits but we don't have G-Star written across our T-Shirts in big bold letters neither.

I've seen people not get let in to a club because they have a t-shirt and not a shirt on. Wasn't even a chavvy t-shirt either.

Only pub i like in town is the Britans Protection, proper pub with good drinks and food. Everywhere else is full of stuck up people. Much prefer Bolton for a night out.
Venture out to Salford and visit the Crescent pub, spend the night trying different ales from around the world.

Okay for food I'd suggest somewhere like:

Dukes 92 in Castlefield depending on what you fancy and at what time. Can get massive pizzas to share casually whilst drinking or you can sit down and have a proper meal if you like. - http://www.dukes92.com/

San Carlo on Deansgate is a brilliant Italian, go there quite a lot with friends and family. Would definitely need to book for a Friday or Saturday night. - http://www.sancarlo.co.uk/manchester

The Grill on the Alley just off Deansgate does amazing steak I've taken a couple of girls there but if you're a meat lover then its awesome. Huge selection of steaks, done exactly how you want. And if you've got a few quid to blow you can go for a Kobe Beef Steak! - http://www.blackhouse.uk.com/restaurants/restaurants-manchester/

For going out I'd suggest somewhere like:

Deansgate - you have the option of both Deansgate locks and all the bars etc on Deansgate itself. Considering the sort of music you're into you should enjoy Deansgate locks. Have a look here and see if it takes your fancy. You could also look at the individual clubs on Deansgate locks and see what nights they have on when you and your mates are here. - http://www.manchesterbars.com/location-deansgatelocks.htm

The Northern Quarter - Loads of bars open until late (and plenty of restaurants too you could eat at too). There are a couple of places that get funny and have a mixed groups only policy if it gets busy. However if you do go to The Northern Quarter I'd definitely check out Black Dog Ballroom it's open until really really really early in the morning - think I was there until 6am last time. Here's the website - http://www.blackdogballroom.co.uk/nq/

Places you definitely won't want to go to:
- 42nd Street
- 5th Avenue
- Factory 251
- Venue Nightclub

They're ridiculously studenty. I'm 22 and still a student and I feel old.

Also avoid The Printworks, it's a chavvy load of rubbish.

Hope this helps.

No worries. I go out with mates in their mid 20s early 30s and everyone has a great time around Deansgate and northern quarter. How many of you will there be? You guys should check out a bar called Brew Dog if you guys like beer its awesome. Definitely worth Googling :).

What this guy says!

I need to try Alley again it was nice, also not yet been to San Carlo but I've heard good things. Dukes92 is not bad for drinks, Deansgate Locks is not amazing but not a bad place to finish off your night, various clubs. Northern Qtr has a few nice places, Walrus or Socio Rehab for cocktails.

Btw last weekend of September = Freshers for University Students so I'd definitely just stick to northern quarter :).

Haha. I'm newly single and not very shy so I'll be sure to check it out :) Just have to convince rest of the boy's who are married or partnered up!

Great post.

For food go to Grill on the Alley, they probably do the best steaks in Manchester. I work for the company so know the ins and outs, it is a great place ;)
Or if you want Itialian then San Carlo is good but i prefer Stock http://www.stockrestaurant.co.uk/app/ You will have to book in advance. The food is amazing & so is the building, it is the old Stock Exchange building.

For drinks definitely go to the Northern Quarter, although unless you know where you are going then it can be quite difficult to find your war around so maybe stick to Thomas street in the NQ as there are quite a few bars there that do some of the best cocktails in Manchester. My favorites being Apotheca, TV21 (really funky oldschool arcade type place that plays great music, has old arcade machines every where and plays things like Thunder Cats on the TVs :D), Keko Moko is a tiny but brilliant Tiki bar so RUM GALORE and next door is Socio Rehab, owned by the same people as Keko Moku but very different & much bigger. Keko Moku do amazing cocktails, you get a good show & their sharing bowls are amazing, they use over 700ml of rum in some of the sharers, i suggest getting a Monkey Brain ;) If Keko Moku is too busy but you want to go to a good Tiki/Rum bar then Hula Bar is just around the corner as well, this is also very good.

As much as I love Black Dog Ballroom, it has changed a lot and is more of the outskirts of the NQ. It use to be relatively underground but over the past year has become very popular so you can queue for a hell of a long time & if you do get it in will be very busy. Saying that, it is also a bit of a club with a dance floor with very good Manchester based DJs. As said, it opens until late. If you do go I would say get there early, so before midnight or maybe even 11. Oh and a lot of the girls/women there are stunning :D

Also, give me a shout, I will be around that weekend :D

I hope that helps :)

P.s. Sorry for any mistake, it's 5 am where I am and I am slightly drunk :D
