X5 m sport worth it over SE

Still haven't made up my mind on my car change but my wife seems to have come to a conclusion! An X5 - it will be AUC as contract hires are much more than the GTs and base(ish) model F11s.

The F11s I was debating last week went nowhere, Cooper Cobham were such complete ***** that I won't be putting business their way and the other one has gone (and you all rightly put me off the business nav). My wife feels strongly that she wants more of a change than e61 to F11.

She is right that the space will be useful with two dogs and two kids but moreover third row seating would be a good option. I also drive to the Alps for snowboarding from time to time so an advantage to the AWD but I have never really wanted to make a car purchasing decision based on that.

So I reckon if we go X5 it needs to have media pack, panoramic, third row. Any other must have options?

And my big question is the M sport worth it over the SE? The m sport packages really seem to hold their value, which obviously is both good and bad.

There aren't many options with panoramic and third row. Any thoughts on these cars or in general X5s around this price point? Is 2007 (the first one) too old?:

Old IDrive in most of those. Which is fine if you are buying an old E60 for 6k but somewhat annoying when you are spending £23-£30k on an X5. The X5 is the last car left in the range yet to be replaced (Excluding models currently being done, ie 3 and 1 series).

Ooh that's good to know, so is that one iteration on from the one in my 55 plate e61?

TBH it is pretty clunky in that.

Other options are RR sport with the 3.6 diesel, the 2.7 is shockingly slow and the super charged is silly. Cayenne diesel (but these are all at the top of my budget). Q7 I suppose but neither of us really like them.

Although we don't do many miles my wife has a bee in her bonnet (she is a pretty formidable woman BTW ;)) about not getting something with worse economy than we have now and has warned me off Cayenne in petrol form for example. It seems this is a green stance rather than about cost, as some of the thirstier options can be had for a song.

No, fundamentally the same iteration but with shortcut buttons added. Interface remains the same. The X5 *did* get CIC HDD Nav but I dont think it was until 2009.

Thanks, will have to have a tinker with one.

Want to line up a day of test drives anyway to make sure I will gel with SUV. We had a Navara for years at the totally unrefined workhorse end of the market. I am tempted to stay with BMW partly because I like them and partly because I think I have a better chance of getting a good deal.

Any thoughts on the other options?
