Olympic WiFi HotSpot Ban

How are they going to enforce something like this? Won't they need people walking around with wifi detector type devices? Sounds like a lot of hassle.

They aren't.

Aside from perhaps turning you away at the gate if you have something which is an obvious WiFi hot-spot device, rather than a phone.

Like I said, its really not that big of a deal.

All Android phones can become WiFi hotspots, nobody would ever know unless they looked at your screen to see it was broadcasting.

I think his point was relating to the enforceability of the ruling. If you turn up with a phone they won't have a clue, if you turn up with a wireless router looking device they might say something.

They can't block it as that's illegal so I really don't see how they can enforce it.

What on Earth makes you think it's illegal? Their event, their premises, their rules. I don't agree with them but that doesn't make them illegal. And it's also impossible to control as people have said. If anything they'll have made the situation worse as people will do it out of spite now.

They will use a wifi service that will charge you say £2.50 an hour... if i go with my Android phone and become a wifi hotspot and allow my family and friends use it then thats 10x 2.50 an hour lost

The blocking of public frequencies (which is what Wifi uses) is illegal.

But they're not doing that? That would involve transmitting static across that wavelength in order to make devices that require them useless.

They're simply saying that you cannot set up your own hotspot.

EDIT: Join date buddy!
