So I was going to get Asus P8Z77-V but then I started reading about Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H because my mate told me it is better.

After a lot of reasearch I came to the conclusion that the Gigabyte offers more features that I would use compared to the Asus one. So I was almost certain that I will go with the Gigabyte and then I started reading individual reviews on No competitors!. They seemed similar according to the people. But then I saw the best seller rankings on Amazon and it got me thinking again because:

No they aren't. The boards are pretty much on equal grounds (just look at the price of a motherboard and the main features of it as well and 90% of the time when the price is close the features offered are usually on par as well!) Either would be a good board. The only difference is Asus can be a bit iffy for RMA'ing compared to Gigabyte's golden RMA'ing :p.

Does the Gigabyte have full board fan control? The ASUS has the option of controlling three different fan headers. Makes it great for configuring a nice silent system.

You can set 3 or 4pin (Voltage or PWM) control, and set a different rate for the CPU Smart fan control from the System fans.

Its not individual header control

Ahh that's a pity.

The ASUS one also has Voltage or PWM but you can't set it, it just detects what fan you've got and adjusts the speed.

I suppose if you don't care for the individual fan control then it's a moot point, but I've always wanted that.

Now they just need to be able to to use a GPU as the reference temp or perhaps the motherboard or other sensors then we're getting more advanced :)

That is Maximus V gene money that is!!!! Come on we know what is the King in this price bracket for Overclocking.

If your Going Ivy and some decent RAM it will get every last ounce of performance out of it for you!!!

Yes indeed. I want to have the option to go SLI. Never used AMD/ATI and probably never will ;) but that's just me.

Just so you know, the P8Z77-V has a feature called "Fan Auto Tuning Mode" which will test each fan individually to find its own high and low RPM parameters. This feature is currently 100% exclusive to Asus motherboards! :D

If you follow this link you can find more information on this technology: http://event.asus.com/2012/mb/P8Z77_Series_Motherboards/page3_fan.htm
