I currently have an antec kuhler 620 all in one water cooler, but currently selling some parts off before I go full water cooling.

This would result in me using the stock heatsink/fan for the CPU.

How do these fair? Are they rediculously noisy? Can you overclOck at all with these??

It's a temporary measure until I get all my WC kit, curious.

Well to be honest I don't think Intel sell the CPU with the expectation you will sit there running Prime95, obviously real world temps are lower than stress tests. But before water cooling my 2550K I ran Prime95 on it so I had a before/after comparison mark and after ~20mins I aborted when one of the cores reached 80 degrees, and that was at stock clocks in a well ventilated case in a room that I was comfortable in.

DON'T DO IT! that stock cooler is just nasty in general! Running normal games ect is a struggle for that cooler anyway lol. The fans are noisy even when a game opens. They are so basic :D

op isnt goin to be running prime 95 though is he?

the stock cooler is good for uopto 4ghz without having to worry.

To be fair it's only for an interim period until I have all the WC gear.

I won't be stressing the arse out of the CPU with stress tests etc.

May just keep it at stock clocks until the WC is all ready.

aye mate dont go spending say £25 on a decent cooler only to change it in a month, put it in perpective that £25 could buy you tubing and coolant

This is interesting to me too.

I have just bought a 2500k and was planning to clock it to 4.3. I was giong to use the stock cooler to save money.

Is this not a good idea then?

If not, what's a good cooler to do up to 4.5? I'd be happy with 4.3, so I really don't want to spend a lot of money on an extreme sped HSF.

Suggestions?
