Not exactly...imo the only reason why there are two cards between the 7850 and 7970 IS for price gouging. There is no need for both 7870 and 7950 (which both performance is very close to one another), as it should have really just 7950 at around £230 and with no need for the 7870 even to exist.They just look more expensive now as the ati 7xxx prices have settled to fairly decent levels. Even the 7870 looks a decent price in its bracket now. The 670 is still quite well positioned but the premium for the 680 is too much.
Looks to me like amd's price gouging period is over, hopefully nvidias will be over soon (690 not withstanding).
