3d printings days are now numbered?

He used a Stratasys 3D printer to create a .22 pistol. And yes, it actually works; it can shoot bullets just like a normal gun.
In fact, the user claims to have fired more than 200 rounds out of the machine, and says it still works just fine. But he didn’t stop there. He also assembled a .223 rifle upper and attached it to the lower, again with 100% success

So now everyone will be out of work, replaced by technology. Soon they will be able to build computerized robots to make programers obsolete. How are they going to sell these things if there is no one to buy them? .

Manufacturing will be destroyed won't it?

I'd like to see this gun he's fired more than 200 rounds from. I can't believe 3D printing can manufacture something that strong. At least something that strong that would remain accurate at any distance not involving rubbing your face down the target.

A revival of luddism is nigh I see.

On the gun thing though, it's not much use creating a gun if you can't create the bullets to go with it. As far as I'm aware 3D printers aren't capable of printing out lead.

Lead is easy to shape. So is brass. With the right tools you could press out shells and bullets. It might not be to the standard of factory produced pieces. But it's doable.

Not quite printing a bullet then is it? hence why I used 'functioning' in the post you quoted.

The bullet is only one part of the whole. A round consists of the bullet, casing, powder and the primer. Technically a bullet is simply a projectile. Putting a stone in a slingshot, it becomes a bullet.

Are you being serious right now? I don't recall the OP posting about slingshots so it was very clear what I meant - but if you want to play the splitting hairs game then **** it, yeah lets ban 3D printing and can we ban chairs to? because I could just break a chair up and beat someone to death with the leg.

Wow. You're testy.

With 3D printing, you can print just about everything required to make a functioning firearm and round, bar the powder/propellent. So it does print functioning bullets. So you should have a problem going by your earlier post.

But you don't need to anyway. Since the explosive force would more than likely cause any weapon to explode in the individuals hand. At least with current printing materials.

I said nothing about banning anything. I would like to be able to print weapons and bullets thank you.

Wow, contradicting yourself in two sequential sentences?

5 stars!

Please, tell me how these gun bullets serve their function without black powder?

Did you miss my previous post where I mentioned that a bullet is only part of a whole? A bullet is a projectile. A bullet does not contain explosives.
