New Asus 144Hz Monitor

Man I would like one of those... unfortunately it probably won't be that cheap, seeing as I can't even stretch to a 120Hz monitor at the moment. As they said, it's probably not that much of a difference for 2D but for 3D I reckon it would be awesome.

I reported on this one on July 19th - should get some better news sources. And the model number is 'VG278HE' not 'VG2788HE'. :)

I guess I would consider one of these but the loss of desktop space would be a concern. I'd like to hope we'll oneday see 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 screens with 120hz. I think they would need to use displayport to achieve this for 3d but my card has displayport, even my current monitor has displayport so it must be possible.

72hz in 3D will be so tasty.

Since the 3D is likely to be sold separately, could come in at a pretty reasonable price too... Well here is hoping anyway.

i think they will sell a lot at 350
ill be suprised if its that cheap but maybe :)
for me its the best looking lan screen, wonder if benq and heaton r scared :p

everytime i see these threads i think yes 120 at high res then i get disapointed

Well hasn't it been said time and time again that will never happen for years due to the fact there wouldn't be enough dvi bandwidth to to run 2560 x 1440 at 120hz. Even i know tho and i only read the forums maybe once a week :P

Don't expect something that wont happen anytime soon and you wont be disappointed ^^

Its already happened, you just have to overclock korean monitors. So yes, 2560 x 1440 at 120hz is possible over DL-DVI, although it is not supported :)

If you read the thread on those monitors then it seems most graphics cards don't have a high enough pixel clock to get past 100Hz at that resolution.

Theoretically possible but not in practice for most people even if the monitor will overclock that far.

Actually it does now work on all ATI/AMD 5xxx 6xxx and 7xxx series. You do have to modify the drivers though. I don't think I can post the link (probably classed as a competitor).

But yeh, because you have to do that I doubt anybody will bring out a 2560x1440 120hz monitor soon :(

There is zero chance of a DVI display being released by the main companies that exceeds the DVI standard. Asus chose 144hz to stay within that standard. I wouldn't be surprised if one could overclock the monitor to far beyond 144hz, unofficially of course.

DisplayPort being almost mainstrain means there is hope of an official high res high refresh rate display.

im hoping itll happen soon tho so its always worth a check back who knows what they will come out with in 12-18 mths and r playing with now
