After much deliberation there is a new 650d with 18-135mm stm lens winging its way to me!

Despite the high price tag, curiousity got the better of me and I'm looking forward to playing around with it :D

I want to :( Just have to wait for those damn delivery people to make me happy lol

the 18-135mm STM lens is the other kit option if you don't get the normal 18-55mm kit lens

I'll be sure to post some pics :) Kinda curious to see what the lens is like! Might borrow my mates old 18-55mm Canon kit lens to see how it compares

I'm not sure if I like the pop out screen or not. I'm guessing I'd have to have a play to make my mind up if it's useful of a gimmick.

Touch screen however is a different kettle of fish - that is a good idea.

My friend has recently picked up the 40mm pancake STM lens and I'm quite impressed with how quiet/smooth the focus is compared to the USM motors in my primes!. If your new STM is anything like it then it should be awesome :)

I think if there's going to be a screen then it might as well be popout since it does provide some extra functionality with no real drawbacks as far as I can see. I guess time will tell though!

The 40mm pancake stm does appeal to be a lot :) Tis cheap and seems to do the job pretty well along with being practically silent. I can't say I've really heard this 18-135mm stm lens yet!

Just need to start taking more pics now!

I was thinking the same about the pop out screen being a gimmick or useful when I picked up my 60D however I have found it very useful. An example would be when at the Olympics rowing today the only way I could get above the flags in front of me was live view and the articulating LCD :p.

Yeah I'm using the viewfinder for the most part but the screen is pretty awesome. It's so much better to view your images when you can pinchzoom and navigate around with a responsive touchscreen. I haven't got too far into mastering the different menus yet etc but everything works just how I expected it to! The flipout screen is also good for those shots from silly angles like you mentioned! This pic turned out alright apart from the slightly wonky angle and I was crouched over and walking backwards at the time since he kept coming towards me >.<
