So I am looking at these two mice at the moment:

I'm a casual gamer that likes to have quality peripherals. I'm looking for a quality mouse to compliment a new keyboard (possibly Corsair K60/90).

The M60 is Corsairs foray into fps targeted mouse users. I'm not overly taken with the 'sniper' button on the side. A few reviewers have mentioned it can be hard to reach depending on how you hold the the mouse and hand size etc. Corsair generally make quality hardware though. It looks sturdy.

The Deathadder Black Edition appearance wise appeals to me (love black). However, it appears flimsier in design judging by pictures. Its previous incarnation gets rave reviews across the board so it is hard to ignore. They are both similar in price too.

With regards my grip, I think I am a cross between claw and palm but would probably adapt to either if necessary.

I always find YouTube a great resource for researching hardware etc although why they put so much emphasis on "unboxing" a product is beyond me! lol

Unfortunately, there are no shops near me where I can go and test them out.

I'd appreciate any thoughts you may have!

Hi, I've had a lot of experience with gaming mice - I'll name a few I currently own, and a few I used to own. At the moment I'm using a Logitech G400 (I bought yesterday) on a Steelseries Qck mousemat (I own a lot of them as well). I also use a grip similar to yours and have quite large hands (I'm right handed btw).

I also have a Steelseries Sensei, Roccat Kone+ and Logitech G5 at the moment, although I've owned both a Deathadder 3.5g (same as the black edition really) and a Razer Mamba.

The Deathadder is definitely the most comfortable and has the most reliable tracking I've ever seen. You'll want to pair it with a reasonably good cloth mat, however, as this provides the best tracking as far as I've seen (such as the Qck I'm using now). Optical sensors at the moment seem to be better than laser in terms of accuracy, at least for FPS gaming. Laser sensors just allow for higher DPIs, which is just gimmicky and means nothing, since 1000 dpi is pretty crazy already (I use 600 dpi on my mice usually).

Razer mice I've used have all had pretty average to bad build quality. On my mamba, the rubber thumb grips peeled off after about a month and the deathadder was okay in general, but some of the plastic on the sides was creaky and squishy. Other mice have higher build quality.

The m60 has the same sensor as the Steelseries Sensei, and I can say that it is good but still eclipsed by the Deathadder (despite the price difference). The sensor is the Avago Technologies ADNS-9500, and is known for issues with acceleration etc which reduces its accuracy. The performance, comfort and aesthetic of the deathadder is unrivalled imo. It is a large regret of mine that I gave my deathadder away to a friend... I'd definitely go for that and pair it with a decent cloth mat.

Hope this helps!

The DA has the benefit of having a shape which only a few people can't get along with, its the same intellimouse shape we've had for decades which a lot of people fall in love with.

As for sniper buttons, I have just acquired a saitek rat 9 which has one of these things. My main game is UT2004 and I have used it to make long distance shots with the sniper weapons, when I zoom right in with the scope and press the button the crosshair is pretty much glued to the target.

Not sure if its a case of something new to play with or if I'll stop using it though.

Hi, thanks for that.

How come so many mice? :D

Despite the build quality of Razer mice in general by comparison to others you still seem to like the Deathadder. It seems to be one of the most used mice out there.

Have you any thoughts on the G9x. It would probably be my third choice as I am not overly taken with its appearance.

Also, my mat is currently the Razer ExactMat which isn't cloth. I generally don't like the feel of cloth mats.

I had the exactmat with the deathadder... it didn't work so well. The cloth was much better believe me! So many mice because I get bored I guess.. oops! Yeah the g9x is okay but the sensor isn't as good, and suffers from issues. Also I hate the interchangeable weights, grips etc... I just want a mouse that works and you don't have to play dress-up with. It's also much less comfortable (I've used one in the past).

Just get the deathadder. You won't regret it!
