Roccat Kave 5.1

Unless you got a good sound card, you would be better off with something like a Virtual surround headset like the Corsair Vengence 1500.

And from what I read about Roccat Kave 5.1, it's a bit of hit or miss, as it's only as good as the user capable of setting it. Some people that are good at adjusting the settings are happy with it, but others struggle to make them sound good.

Consider the steelseries siberia v2, true surround sound in a headset is too directional IMO.

If you want really obvious positional sound with a view of this helping your gameplay then it could be a good option.

But I much prefer a stereo headset, positional sound is subtle and less obvious.

at the moment im using the turtle beach xp500 but they seem a bit tinny when gaming . I want something with a bit more bass . i have a asus xonar 5.1 sound card . i like the look of the corsair headphones .

what are your thought on the turtle beach headphones as i dont think they are worth the money i payed for them

If bass is your thing, then I wouldn't recommend the Corsair, and it focus more on being clear crisp and better at picking up little details like footsteps etc rather than having heavy bass which could potential drown out those details.

Since you got a sound card capable of virtual 5.1, I think the Razer Carcharias is still probably one of the best in terms of between details and bass:

the Asus Vulcan ANC which got many good reviews is worth considering as well, though I haven't personally used it:

Get some Panasonic RP-HTF600E-S. £27 delivered online. They sound incredible on BF3. Spend the rest on a sound card, like the ASUS DG if you do not have one.

i should have said explosions not bass , i play battlefield 3 and when there is an explosion it sounds **** and sometimes crackles .
I myself uses a Corsair Vengence 1300, and while the sound quality is very good, I have to say it is not as comfortable as can be as the ear-cups do press quite hard. The Razer Carcharias would be much more comfortable for long hours of gaming session, but it does cost more than the Corsair Vengence 1300. The Asus Vulcan ANC is probably better sound than both the Corsair and the Razer, but it cost a bit over £70.

I looked at myself in the mirror wearing the kave's...not a good idea.

You will look ridiculous wearing them unless you look like 5UB.

The kaves are quite good. That said I recently bought a new soundcard that required a new set so have now upgraded to Sennheiser HD558 and combined with my titanium HD they simply blow the kaves out of the water.

The 3d positional is so much better and the sound quality is mind boggling. I didn't even realise that some of the windows sounds were playing with the old setup.

Real 5.1/7.1 surround sound headsets are old fashioned.

Get a stereo one that simulates 5.1/7.1. It uses software to do all the fancy stuff and it works well. I have no idea how it works but if 2 human ears can tell where a sound is coming from then it is certainly reasonable to expect stereo headphones to do it!

My Corsair HS1 USB headset is very good and is virtual 7.1.
